Acting Captain Mark Rhodes had taken some time and read the rules of the station. He now stood in the Lounge waiting for the senior staff to report to their briefing. He stood looking out the window watching the hustle and bustle of the station traffic.
Karim entered the lounge and nodded to Rhodes "Hello sir. Definitely a different view then what we are used to eh?"
"Truth," said Mark looking to Karim. "Amazing to watch. Its almost like watching ants move about a colony."
Smirking, Karim replied "Sort of sir. I'm not sure the locals would like being compared to insects thought sir."
"From what this information detailed, we very well may come into contact with insectoids," said Mark looking back to Karim.
Nothing like walking into a conversation that ended with the mention of insectoids. A slight raise of brows as she looked between them a moment. "Something I need to know?" Aly asked curiously.
Tierney was close on the security officer's heels as she let herself in the room and nodded to each of the other officers. The station's buzz and hum had slowly been calling to her, begging for her to explore the inner workings -- and still she denied it her presence. "Something about insectoids." the starchild shrugged as she found her seat.
Doctor Rogers was the last to arrive, she had had to deal with some injuries from a certain security officer first, "Sorry I'm late, I had something to do before I got here." She walked in as she tied up her hair.
Nodding to the new arrivals, Karim took his seat beside the Captain and waited for the meeting to begin. He was curious about what Rhodes mentioned about insectoids, and was sure whatever it was would prove to be interesting.
"Alright Ladies and gentlemen before we leave the ship we have to get onto the same page," said Mark taking his seat at the head of the table. "From what I have read the Station Administration have a no tolerance policy for any nonsense. The punishment for inciting a fight is they impound your ship and you are shown to the nearest airlock. No judge or jury, just the punishment. So we are to be on our best behavior.
"There are countless species that our database does not recognize on this station, so proceed with caution. From what I have read there are no specific species that are prone to offense, but none the less be careful.
"Doctor Rogers, you are going to find us our medical supplies. Here is a list of what we have and are willing to trade, see what you can do. There are a few vendors that deal in medical supplies so I would see what is available to us.
"Commander Rinehart, I want you to get a hold of as much information as you can about this sector of space and the ones surrounding it. The more information we have the better.
"Lieutenant Lucas is in charge of security if any crew want to get a bit of shore leave while we are here maybe? Also, I don't want anyone going anywhere without a security detail. Their rules allow for side arms. But I should mention that if you discharge your weapon for any reason, you will be taken into custody and detained until Station Staff can determine the cause, their rules seem a little fickle."
The CMO waited before speaking up, "With all due respect, sir, may I be given permission to not carry a side arm?"
"I'm on it." Tierney nodded, making notes in a PaDD. Sidearms? Fine. Security detail? She had a Nausicaan. Life would ultimately be fine. A question caught her attention, drawing her from her work, and she looked up to raise an eyebrow between the Captain and the Doctor.
"If I may ask, Doctor, why would you like to not carry a sidearm?" asked Mark. There was only a few reasons why not carrying a sidearm would be allowed.
"Well, if, as stated, we are entering a place where the rules are a little harder punished if broken, why should we risk it. Business should be done on good terms and not because my gun is bigger than your gun propositions. Not to mention, it's kind of a conflict of interest me even considering having a phaser at my side, for my use. I am confident that my voyage companions will protect me if needed, not to mention, they are probably a better shot."
"If want Sir, I can make sure to stay near her. Or assign an officer to shadow her." Alyssa said without blinking an eye. Of course she already was having some issues with the Doctor.
Scarlet smiled slightly before regaining composure quickly, her gaze returning to the acting captain.
"See to it personally Lieutenant," said Mark without skipping a beat.
Karim made a few notes on a padd, keeping up on where everyone was going to be assigned. He wasn't overly happy about the need for sidearms either, but he knew it was for the safety of the crew.
"Any other questions? We have our assignments," said Mark looking to his officers.
She'd actually been hoping he'd just say she could assign the doctor an officer. With a slight glance to Scarlet she looked back to Mark with a shake of her head to let him know she had none.
Karim cleared his throat and said "Sir, since Lieutenant Lucas is going to be working with Doctor Rogers, I would like to work with Lieutenant Commander Rienhart. I believe it would be a good chance for us to get to know each other."
"Understood," said Mark. "There are some protocols here, I want us all to overlook them before we disembark. Just to be safe," he said sliding a PaDD to each officer.
Picking up the padd, Karim scanned it, noting to read it in further detail once the briefing ended.
Tierney nearly choked as she heard her name leave the Trill's lips, her writing stopped as she looked up to regard the command team with suspicion rife in her eyes, "Dually noted." She responded and slid the offered PaDD over to her portion of the table.
Karim noticed Rienhart's shocked expression and replied simply "I have no ulterior motives requesting to work with you Ms. Rienhart. My reasons are as simple as I have stated."
Her hands went up quickly, palms exposed in the age old signal of surrender, "I didn't say anything to the contrary, Commander."
Scarlet watched Tierney to make sure she was actually ok before looking to Aly. Scarlet still didn't trust the woman, but wouldn't have much of an option when they were out there.
"If that is all, dismissed," said Mark standing.
