Nanee was sitting in the chief medical office signing off on some charts that the group of cadet medical officers did, they were okay but the bright star was Calder. The others could be molded into good doctors, Calder on the other hand had that built-in sense of what it meant to be a doctor.
As she continued to work her Cpadd went off alarming her that lieutenant Rogers comm badge had entered the proximity. Logging out of the console after she finished signing off on the last chart. Nanee took a deep breath unsure how this was gonna go down but also knew this talk had to happen now rather than later.
Scarlet went straight to the office knowing that it would probably be where Nanee was, "Ready for work?"
Nanee looked at the former chief wondering what the women was thinking she was doing while she incarcerated. "All the patients charts; done by the new cadet class have been signed off and submitted. I was about to start rounds and check in with petty officer Konin for the morning inventory."
Scarlet nodded. She felt quite out of place, like she'd been out of the game a bit too long. The woman looked around unsure on what to do or say, it was awkward and tense.
"Do you want rounds or the inventory?" Nanee asked having a sinking feeling this idea was not gonna work well. When she first arrived Scarlet was a alpha but the attack and time in the brig took that away. And Nanee only knew one way of handling this type of situation, and that was to become the alpha herself.
"I'll do inventory and make sure that creep of a merchant did his job properly," Scarlet sighed slight. Noticing Nanee not taking too well to this new situation Scarlet smiled a little and trying to make light humour said, "Cheer up Pip. The captain has great expectations. We'll either work well together or we will wind up ripping each other to shreds. Regardless, as long as this department remains functioning and efficient, I don't have any issue."
"Fair enough." Nanee said looking at Scarlet truly intrigued who would win the fight. Of course her money was on her, like always vanity always came first on these challenges. Standing up she grabbed her Cpadd and walked to the door, "also you've an appointment with lieutenant Neren at 1545 (345 pm) do not be late."
"You know, Lieutenant, I may have had somewhat of a change in rank and job, but I will not stand to being spoken down to. We are equals. You are nothing more than what I am, so I suggest you learn your new place, the same way I have to learn mine," Scarlet hissed.
Nanee just smirked Scarlet wasn't the first nor the last women to hiss at her. "Tsk tsk.....there it is I knew it was still in you." Nanee said speaking about her fire and passion, "and well in all honesty the demotion and time in the brig says otherwise. It appears you do need things spelled out for you."
"Know your place, Quoicho," Scarlet slammed her hand down on the desk, "Grow up and learn how to be a team player because like it or not we are equals."
"I have been acting like a team player. And I damn right know my place. As far as equals, technically yes we're equals, but let's be honest do you really believe the captain and the rest of the crew are gonna see and believe that?" Nanee said with a rather wicked smirk on her face.
Nanee wasn't sure why she was antagonizing the women, in reality she needed it seeing as she was gonna be dealing with it until the true traitor was brought to justice. Even after that she would still have that stigma.
"What the hell is your problem," Scarlet ran her fingers through her hair, "You've just been offered a promotion with the condition that you work as my equal. Do you just want all of this place for yourself? Because let me tell you this, for every action there is a consequence and if you want to be an utter bitch on board this ship then good luck. You need to get off your high horse before I or someone else kicks you off it, and trust me when I say that I hope it will be my task if you keep this up."
Nanee was for sure someone would knock her off her high horse, in fact she encouraged that sort of behavior but she was sure as hell not gonna allow it to be this women to do it. "Damn you can actually say that with a straight face after everything you've done. Amazing Lieutenant Neren is gonna have his hands full with you."
"Will you just go F-" The young doctor paused and composed herself, "This may be my first day back, but I refuse to place to one side like you are a little kid with an old toy. I am a doctor and I still hold the same position as you. Learn to get over it or don't bother coming into work. Patients are priority here, not your ego."
"Well guess what sweet heart your still my patient that's on light duty. And until you see lieutenant Neren I'll keep you on light duty. Is that clear enough for you?" Nanee said glaring at the women, "and don't tell me patients are priority I damn well know that seeing as I've been dealing with them while you had your little timeout."
"For a near 30 year old, you don't half act like a grandmother," Scarlet muttered, "Still, I work here, as your equal regardless of how many hours. So grow up or get out."
Nanee just shook her head and left the office to start rounds if the bitch wanted to pout Nanee would let her. But if she didn't comply with her treatment plan she would not hesitate to go to the captain and have her removed from duty.
Scarlet slumped to the desk chair and sighed in the pain her injury still gave her. It was ridiculous how someone could change personalities so fast. Scarlet honestly thought that working with Nanee would be ok. Nanee didn't seem like someone Scarlet would have an issue with, but clearly, this was going to be a long journey.
