After being side tracked with Fabla, acting Captain Mark Rhodes moved quickly through Bimi Station with security Ensign Jacobs in tow. Mark rounded a cooridoor and found Nanee standing looking a tad impatient at Marks tardiness. "I am sorry Lieutenant," said Mark breathlessly. Mark had told her to meet him to speak with a shopkeep who ran a medical supplies post. "I was side tracked by a civilian of ours. Shall we go in?"
"Please." Nanee said a bit annoyed being called away from the infirmary especially with everything that's happened.
"So you know what we need," said Mark. "This keeper has been a fairly difficult to deal with, I heard when one of the Medical Officers spoke with him he refused to speak without their superior. So I figured it was best we both come down to speak with him."
"Give me one second," Nanee said as she pulled out her Cpadd and pulled up the requisition order, "alright let's get this done." Nanee said smirking not surprised that Rogers couldn't do this on her own. Walking into the store she didn't even make eye contact with the owner or workers. She started scanning what she needed showing who truly in-charge of this little shopping trip.
The shopkeep and workers were all red skin toned and stood about 4 feet tall. The humanioid who looked in charge looked frail and old. He wore a wide smirk looking over small round spectacles puffing away on a long churchwarden style pipe. The air in the crowded shop was thick. "Ahhs, yess, What can I be doing for you this day?" asked the shopkeep with the help of the UT.
"We are here to purchase medical supplies," said Mark firmly. "I heard you had some problem with selling to some of my people."
"Ahhs, yess, respect not had, weak, no sale to her," the UT tried to keep up. "Youus strong, what is it youus need?"
Mark looked to Nanee to answer the question.
Tapping a few buttons she transferred the list to another PaDD, not about to let some unknown hands touch her baby. "It's all right there." Nanee said not even bothering to look at the man seeing as he most likely wouldn't deal with women.
The short frail humanoid took the PaDD and continued to puff away on his pipe. "Ess, list big. List expensive. 100 bar, GPL for thess."
"Quite a lot of money for some simple medical supplies," said Mark. "If there anything else you would want? We are a large ship, capable of making many things."
"Eee. GPL or other medical supplies, decide."
Mark leaned into Nanee's ear, "What kind of medical supplies would we have to trade? What would they need this far from civilization that they couldn't get ahold of?"
"We don't need to trade supplies for supplies. There are somethings that you don't know about me." Nanee said looking at Mark, "I'll foot the bill." Nanee said looking at the old man, "but I want a 5% discount, or you'll get a shitty customer service review which'll most likely drive down your sales."
"Ooos... Thees one I like," he said looking up to Nanee. "95 bar acceptable. You geet what you 'ant. Just 'emember to visit ole Zuta's Shop whenever you back this way," said the shopkeep with a wide smile.
"Much more acceptable." Nanee said pressing her thumb to the PaDD, "you'll have the GPL in a few hours." Nanee added looking at the ol' man, "let's go my dear Captain."
Mark tried to hide his smirk as they turned and walked out of the shop. As soon as they were back into the promenade. "Where did you learn your negotiation skills?" he asked stunned.
"My father, mother and older brother. The Lenai family; my surname before I was joined," Nanee explained, "the Lenai family are a shrewd bunch when it comes to business and negations and we're trained to always get what we want."
"Sounded a lot like a Ferengi in there," chucked Mark. "Well alright, I have some time, I am going to check a few things out. I would like you and your escort to head back to the ship and prepare for the shipment," looking at Nanee.
"Of course captain." Nanee said slipping her Cpadd back into her bag hoping to not have a run-in with the vendor she essentially stole from.
Mark turned to Ensign Jacobs "You are stuck with me. This way I suppose." He turned and started walking down the promenade.
