Joint Duty Log - CEO & CMO - Lt Cmdr Rhodes & Dr Rogers

Mission: Where no man has gone before.

=*= Main Sickbay =*=

Lieutenant Commander Mark Rhodes walked into sickbay with his nose in a PaDD. He had the PaDD in his left hand because his right hand had minor plasma burns on it, which is why he was in sickbay. He didn't much care for doctors, but he needed to get patched up before he got back to work. He didn't pay much heed to the injury, because it didn't pain him, but people whom he passed on the way to sickbay seem to have a look of shock on their face as he walked past.

With his nose still buried in his PaDD, reading up on inspections that were conducted on the USS Aquarius, he spoke to the receptionist without looking up. "Id like to see a doctor please," he said nonchalantly.

"Can I help you," Scarlet overheard and smiled at the man.

"Yes," he said looking up seeing an attractive young Lt Cmdr calling to him. "Aye, I managed to get bit by an EPS relay and can't afford a bum hand currently. I was wondering if you could patch me up and send me on my marry way Doc."

"Not a problem," she continued to smile, "take a seat on a biobed, and I'll be with you in a second."

Mark took a seat on the biobed as the doctor walked away to get some equipment he tried to keep his eye level at an appropriate level. He dropped his toolkit by his feet, out of the way. "So Doc," he said. "How long you been in medicine?" he said blurting out the first thing that came to mind.

"Since I was 13," she smiled and took Marks hand to look it over before beginning her work.

"Ah," he said. "Makes me feel a little better knowing you been at it a good long while. Wouldn't have made you Chief of Medicine if you didn't know what you were doing. Now they just need to find a Chief of Engineering who knows what hes doing," he chuckled as his hand twitched from the nerve damage from the plasma burn.

"Sorry," she knew she'd hurt him briefly, "I'm sure you do your job just fine." she reassured him, "I'm ok at my job, but no-one is perfect."

"Well we haven't flown apart yet, so there is that," Mark smiled at the doctor. "Just promise me Ill have a cool scar that I can show off to the ladies while I am on shore leave," he continued with a wicked grin.

"There will always be scars from our falls," she sighed, "But, also... You'll be stuck with a scar because I am no miracle worker." she giggled.

"Gotta leave the miracles to the Engineers," he winked at the Doctor. "If this didn't work," he motioned to the dermal regenerator the doctor was using, "I had plans to make a robot hand. Wouldn't have to worry about plasma burns then."

"You're no Anakin Skywalker," she chuckled, "I'll patch you up don't worry."

Mark raised an eyebrow, "Who?" Some feeling slowing returned to his hand and it started to feel warm almost like someone had put a hot iron on it which he knew was a good sign because the nerve damage wasn't permanent.

"I like old films," she looked up at him, "Feeling better?"

"A bit," he said as the tried to close his fingers and form a fist but they only twitched. Given a few more minutes he was sure all of the feeling would be back. "I was always a fan of an actor named John Wayne, my dad made sure I grew up on those films. At least I know how to conduct myself in the Ancient West."

"Get off your horse and drink your milk," she quoted, "I've watched a few of his films.""

Mark chuckled as he was able to close his fingers into a fist then open them back up again. "Well there's a good start Doc," he said. "Looks like its working. When we are done here I should be able to go back on duty, right?"

She toyed with how she should answer a moment, "To be honest, it's not that bad, I mean yes, you shouldn't use it around hot items at the moment, or apply friction to it, but I will allow it. You won't die. If it starts to hurt more though, or feel," she struggled for the word, "dodgy, then come back."

"So if my hand melts, come on back and Ill get a refund is what you are saying," Mark said with a smile.

She smirked, "You do that and I'll rip your arm off and hit you across the head with the soggy end before I repair it."

"Sounds like a fair contract. With negotiation skills like that I thought I was talking to a Ferengi for a moment," he said as he slung his toolkit over his shoulder. "Thanks for the help. If you ever need something non-biological fixed, give me a call," he grinned.

The doctor blushed a little, "Thanks, I'll bear that in mind, though in one sense, I hope not to see you again."

Mark started to head out of the Sickbay when he stopped and turned back, "Forgive me, I never got your name. I am Mark Rhodes. It was a pleasure to meet you Doc," he put his hand out for a handshake.

"Scarlet Rogers," she shook his hand with a soft smile, "It was nice meeting you Mr Rhodes."

Mark shook the cute doctors hand. "Well I must be on my way Miss Rogers," he winked then turned and walked out of Sickbay and entered the corridor. "Maybe all doctors aren't so bad," he said to himself with a grin as he headed for Main Engineering, examining his repaired hand.

Scarlet watched him leave blushing a bit. There was something about this ship, why was she getting so many looks and flirtations directed at her?
