Joint Duty Log - CEO & CMO - Lt Cmdr Rhodes & Dr Rogers

Posted on 241403.06 @ 7:32pm by Lieutenant Scarlet Rogers MD & Acting Captain Mark Rhodes

Mission: Where no man has gone before.

=*= Jefferies Tube 47, Deck 21, Section 12, Junction 22 =*=

Lieutenant Commander Mark Rhodes had his trusty leather messenger work bag slung over his shoulder and his tricorder in his hand. There was a panel that was opened and he was scanning the modification to the EPS grid that had been made because of the issue with the docking clamps of the USS Aquarius.

His hand, which had a little bit of residual scaring left on it after he had come in close contact with a rouge Plasma Tap that was faulty, showering his hand in super heated plasma. The doctor had fixed it a day ago and he had not had any problems with the fix, other then an incident while he was dining with the Captain the night before. He inspected the open panel when he heard a chirp from his Comm. "Lt Cmdr Rhodes here," he said tapping his chest.

"It's Doctor Rogers, can you come to the medical bay at your earliest convenience please," the young woman requested.

"Sure thing Doc," said Mark and he tapped his chest again closing the line. He finished his inspection then closed up the panel. Crawling out of the Jefferies Tube he headed for Sick Bay.

Finally getting there he approached the receptionist. "I am Lt Cmdr Rhodes, here to see Doctor Rogers please."

The secretary directing him to Scarlet's office, where she had restarted her game of chess and had already made 3 moves per opponent. Scarlet looked up from her game as he entered, "Mr. Rhodes," she smiled, "Take a seat."

"Thank you ma'am," Mark said taking a seat dropping his toolkit by his feet. "You wanted to see me? Hands doing fine by the way, thanks for patch up."

"The captain seems to think that you aren't doing to good," she sighed, "Anything you want to tell me?"

"I had an incident at dinner with him last night," Mark said openly. "My hand locked up a moment and I managed to drop my fork, looking rather foolish in the process. But I wasn't concerned with it. I remembered learning in the Starfleet Emergency Medical Extension Course that it can take some time for the nerve neural pathway to realign after some trauma. I didn't see it as anything to worry about. Besides, it was fine until that moment, and its been fine since that moment."

"That's what I thought," she smiled softly, "Look, I don't want to do any unnecessary medical tests, but my orders have been implied."

"Your orders?" questioned Mark raising an eyebrow.

"Yes, the captain was quite concerned, so has implied that I give you another check over and if I can't find anything wrong with you, to refer you over to my colleague: the councillor," she sighed and moved the bishop before turning the chess board round to continue playing.

"So I need to be head shrinked because I dropped a fork?" chuckled Mark.

Scarlet smirked as she moved a knight, "Yes, yes that is exactly what I'm saying, on behalf of the Captain's implied orders."

"Oh my gosh," said Mark in a sarcastic tone. "What would have happened if I sneezed? Would I have been thrown in the brig?" he chucked again. "Well I guess no time better then the present, lets get these tests done so I can go talk to the Counselor and then get back to work in Main Engineering."

Scarlet cheers sarcastically and stood up, turning the chess board so she knew which turn it was when she returned, "Come on then."

Mark stood up and followed the red headed doctor out of her office and into a medical suite taking a seat on the biobed. "2 days in a row in Medical? Clearly I am doing something wrong," said Mark with a wicked smile.

"On the plus side," she chuckle, "because you came here on my" she coughed, "The captain's request, I don't have to tear your arm off and hit you across the head with the soggy end before repairing it." She scanned his hand and brain to make sure everything was ok.

"That's true," said Mark with a smile. "Well with 2 days in a row in here, I wont have to come back for at least 2 year right? I get a free pass on this years physical. Only seems fair to me," he winked at the doctor.

She smirked giving the man a sarcastically sympathetic look, "I'm sorry, but you know I can't do that."

"I was hoping it would work. Believe it or not I don't quite care for sickbay. I only ever seem to end up here when I managed to get myself banged up," he said laying back as the overhead sensor cluster overhead started lighting up in different colors.

"I don't care for it much either," she smirked, "But only because I know that I only have a job because of accident prone people like yourself."

"Accident prone people? Me?" question Mark with a cunning smile. "My dear doctor, in my last posting the most hurt anyone ever got was a papercut from handling the printed out schematics of colony ships. And in this case it wasn't the man, it truly was the machine, which in my experience rarely is the case. Granted, accidents do occasionally happen but they are, after all, accidents."

"They are mishaps, but I'm starting to think that people are purposely injuring themselves lately," she giggled.

"Its true," said Mark with a wicked grin. "I can't speak for others but I scorched my hand to get a chance to converse with the Chief Medical Officer of the boat."

"Why though," she looked at him genuinely clueless.

"I'm kidding Doc," said Mark. "Granted a little bit of bedside manner is always appreciated."

She was confused but soon smiled, "It's a little odd, this male attention I'm getting I must admit."

"The burden of being a cute little thing I suppose," remarked Mark aloud.

Scarlet once again looked at Mark very confused, "I don't understand."

"You are visually appealing Doctor. You are attractive. Men have this knack to try to impress attractive women. Don't tell me that you have never been hit on before Doc?" said Mark looking up at the doctor.

"Sort of, I think, Maybe, I don't know," she shrugged blushing.

"Well," said Mark after a slight awkward silence. "Hows everything looking?"

"As predicted, you're fine, but I suppose I should follow implied orders and scoot you off to the councillors office," she smiled.

Sighed aloud. "Understood ma'am," said Mark setting up. "Time to go talk about my feelings," he stood up. "Good seeing you again Doc."

"He's ok, don't worry," she nodded to the councillor's direction, "Good luck."
