Reconstruction and Refocus

With her being the senior biologist Maria ended having one of the offices playing the signal again for which had to be the sixth time today. The computer was taking longer than it really should when breaking the signal down as it searched for the biological markers in the signal. Setting down a PADD Maria rubbed her eyes as text started to blur and become double. Picking up her hand terminal she set up alarm so if the breakdown of the signal found something she would alerted and have the results sent to her directly.
.:// Lounge //:.
Walking into the lounge Maria walked up to the bar and put her order in before walking over to the one of the booths wishing she had stopped off at her quarters to change. But the nice booth would have to do. Taking a seat she pulled out her hand terminal as she waited for her saki to be delivered.
Still slightly frazzled from what had all in all been quite the day so far, Ayissa found herself lingering just within the entryway of the ship's lounge. First day, and she could already use a drink. What exactly did that portend, was mused idly. A quick sweep of the gathered crew brought her to zero in on the first teal uniform she could find. The visage was vaguely familiar, enough that it was easily assumed this woman was part of the science department, though not one that had been met yet. Not that that was unexpected, given how little time to mingle there had been as of yet.
Quickly skittering across the small distance, she approached, leaning ever so slightly over the table of the booth, a tentative smile on her lips. "Pardon me, I believe you are one of my new associates?"
Maria set her hand terminal face down on the table as she picked up the milky white color. "It appears I am. Ensign Maria Lionza, biologist."
Straightening, the half-Klingon grinned a little wider and offered her hand forth. "Ensign Ayissa Kharg. Science Officer. Though I have a particular fondness for plants, I don't have any real specialty."
"....ah I may have some projects that you may like to be involved with." Maria said with a small smile as she took a sip
Raking a hand through dark curls in a gesture of mild discomfort, Ayissa glanced to the empty side of the booth. "I hope I did not intrude. Are you awaiting company?"
"Please take a seat and join me." Maria said nodding to the empty half of the booth.
Needing no further urging, Ayissa slid into the open spot easily. Setting down the padd she had now been carrying about for what felt like hours, bright green gaze was fixed unerringly on the newly found fellow scientist with intensity. "You mentioned projects?"
"I did." Maria said with a smile as she pulled out another PADD and putting it in front of the new science woman. "Need someone to help run the hydroponics bay and some breeding projects if you are interested."
Inhaling sharply, the half-Klingon made a slight, high-pitched noise of delight. "Of course!" Eagerly taking up the new device, she scrolled through the parameters outlined therein; her pale features lighting up with mounting excitement. "So long as it doesn't interfere with what ever else the bigger, bossier, types have in mind for me I cannot give any reason as to why I would not be able to assist in these. More than happy to! It has been a while since I've had decent tools at my disposal. The Starbase had the basics, but nothing to get excited about."
Taking another sip of her drink Maria smiled hearing the excitement from the other scientist. "That's fine. I also would like to find a space for 'public garden' it'll be an ambitious project but one that I think'll add to crew morale. Would you be up for that as well?"
Leaning back in the booth seat slightly, Ayissa took a moment to draw in a deep breath, settling herself. "I think it would be a splendid idea. And one to give the due consideration. I would be happy to assist, when the opportunity arranges itself."
Smiling widely, she passed the padd back to her newfound fellow. "Suppose I should give myself more than twenty-four hours of arrival before I get too overboard. Though I reiterate that I am certainly interest in being involved."
Maria smiled sliding the PADD back to her. "Please hold onto this. I have several copies of the projects I want to start." Maria said finishing her drink as she ordered another from the table menu. "I am loving this new way of ordering things." Maria said with a smirk.
Having not even noticed, or thought about such a thing until that very moment, Ayissa peered at the menu with renewed curiosity. Watching Maria place a new order, the Ensign's brows gradually inched upwards in surprised appreciation. "What doesn't this ship have?!" She laughed, shaking head slightly.
Taking the padd back, Ayissa added it to her own, perched on the table just out of potentially disastrous reach. "I rather believe that I am going to enjoy this assignment."
"Apparently the ships lounge manager is universally known for her drinks and her ability to get her hands on some most rare and exotic ingredients and liquor's." Maria said giving the waitress who delivered her second drink watching her take the other one back. "Same here." Maria said about enjoying this assignment than again anything beats what she was doing before.
"Good to know. About the manager, that is." The half-Klingon nodded, watching the exchange of drinks. Glancing to the closest Chronometer, she swallowed a small sigh. So much for slipping in a drink, too much else that still demanded attention. "Though I believe I will have to wait to put that to the test, myself."
Scooping up both padds, Ayissa flashed the other scientist a bright smile. "I'd better get moving. Finish up all the other preliminaries so I can actually get to work tomorrow! I'm glad to have met you. Looks like we'll probably be seeing each other quite a bit, with all this."
"Yes I am as well glad to have met you." Maria said toasting the women with her drink, "maybe next time we can have a drink together." Maria said giving her another smile.
"I certainly wouldn't say no to that." Kharg chuckled slightly, inclining her head in acknowledgement of the toast in her direction before turning to make her exit.
