JDL|Lt JG Forgrave & Ens Val'ren| ACMO & Nurse| Welcome to Sickbay
Posted on 241708.30 @ 10:04pm by Ensign Sennia Val'ren & Lieutenant Jennell Forgrave MD
Mission:
Reconstruction and Refocus
Location: Sickbay
Jennell had finally finished all of her physicals that needed to be done, and was writing up reports for Starfleet Medical. Her last job of the day was introducing a new nurse to sickbay. She was due to come down after meeting with the CO/XO. She hoped it wouldn't be to long.
After a period of unusually long but enjoyable silence, a tall and willowy young woman entered Sick Bay. Her jet black hair was tied back neatly in a ponytail, showcasing pointed ears. Her equally dark eyes briefly surveyed the area, as she quietly made her way to the woman making headway on her reports.
"I do apologise for my tardiness, I was unable to foresee extenuating circumstances and failed to plan accordingly," she said, her tone was soft but almost startling in contrast to the ambiance of the room.
"No problem Ensign, it gave some time to finish up these reports. Please, have a seat." She said, smiling and motioning to the seat opposite. "Can I get you anything? A drink maybe?" She asked, standing and walking over to the replicator.
"I appreciate the offer, but I must decline for now, thank you," the Vulcan woman said as she sat down. Continuing to survey the area, the Ensign nurse began taking mental notes on the various locations of equipment, making the once blissful silence take on a more awkward and slightly uncomfortable quality.
"No problem." Jennell said, tapping in an order for a small glass of water, and sitting at the desk. "So, tell me a little bit about yourself then Ensign." She said, taking a sip from the water.
"Very well. My name is Sennia Val'ren' though some prefer to call me 'Sen' or 'Val', given my lack of preference, any of these names are acceptable. I have only recently completed my education, but strive to continuously expand my knowledge of medicine." Sennia paused for a moment, further contemplating her response. She wondered if it was necessary to share anything on a more personal level, but decided to continue. "I enjoy reading medical publications and as an alternative when not available; paper craft."
Jennell nodded. "Nice to meet you. I'm sure you'll be able to learn a lot here. Do you have any plans to become a doctor or counsellor? Or are you planning to stay as a nurse?" She asked.
"Becoming a Doctor is one of my goals, however I am unsure of when I want to pursue it," replied Sennia. "My primary objective at this time is simply patient care and pursuit of knowledge."
Jennell nodded again. "Sounds like a good goal. And with regards to further knowledge we can offer you some further courses if you desire, and also things like observing surgeries etc." She smiled.
"I will certainly look forward to it." Sennia nodded and smiled slightly at the idea of observing surgical procedures. Becoming a surgeon was a thought she entertained once before.
"Do you have any questions for me?" Jennell asked.
"I would like to take the time to review current patient files to start with, if I may?" Sennia asked, though her question sounded more like a statement.
"Of course, you have full access with your position, feel free to use one of the computers to have a look. You're first shift will be tomorrow, starting at 0800, we'll run through the sickbay, although i'm sure you know it all, but better to run through it again, so you know where everything is. Thank you for turning up, and i'll see you tomorrow." Jennell said, standing and holding out her hand to the Ensign.
Sennia stood and shook her superior's hand. There was an awkward and almost robotic characteristic to it despite her efforts to assimilate common human social skills. "The pleasure was mine. I'm sure this will be an interesting shift in dynamics to say the least," she said, as she made her way for the exit. She paused and nodded at Jennell, "Have a pleasant evening."
