Mission: Where no man has gone before.
After going to to the ready room and the captain not being there, she had questioned the computer and had found that he was in fact on the bridge. "Captain, A word," The CMO walked onto the bridge, thankful that the acting captain was there, and beckoned Rhodes to talk somewhere private, "It's important."
The somewhat odd behavior of the CMO caught Mark's attention. "Sure, Macomb you have the con," said Mark standing and walking toward the ready room.
"Have a seat Doctor," said Mark as he walked around the desk and took his seat behind it, still a somewhat foreign behavior to him. "What is on your mind Scarlet?"
"Sorry to disturb you, sir," she started, "But I think you should read this." She slid the PADD across the desk to him, showing a very poor inventory list, "Sir, we need to make a pit stop unless you can guarantee that we won't take another incident."
"For me to make a guarantee like that, would be foolish," said Mark not looking up from the PaDD. "You do know we are not sure what kind of friendly or unfriendly people there are out in this sector of space?" asked Mark.
"Then send an away mission in civilian clothing with one of your best linguists," she suggested.
"A simple suggestion, a difficult execution Doctor," said Mark. "I am not looking at stiring trouble up for us out here. Trying to keep our heads down. Not exactly sure UFP knows where we jumped, and I would prefer to keep to keep it that way."
"If you're worried about your crew then give me a ship and I'll go alone. No trace back to the Enterprise. I think that with an inventory this low, you should consider taking this risk," she pleaded, " it may be your responsibility to take care of the politics buts its mine to protect the people on board."
"That may be a possibility," said Mark thinking aloud. "A small, small, small away team may be possible. We will have to pour over any information on this sector and see if there is a bazaar around..."
"I suggest you make it a priority," she warned, "I'll get ready for a solo away mission if you want."
"I am not sending you alone Scarlet," said Mark flatly. "It would be my choice not to send you personally at all, but I feel as though I am going to receive some resistance from you if I don't assign you to this. I would prefer to send you, because you know what you are looking for, the Executive Officer and Chief of Security. Something small and low key."
"Thank you, sir," she smiled slightly, "I wouldn't ask unless I truly had to. We need to go."
"I will consult with the Chief Security Officer, Executive Officer and maybe even the Chief Intel officer. Lets have a sit down. I will keep you posted," said Mark sincerely.
"We need this as a priority, sir," she cautioned, "If we take another hit, the mortuary may become full. I'm not having dead bodies mounting up on my biobes because we have to be too formal about things."
"Understood Doctor," said Mark. "We will begin making arrangements."
"Thank you," she smiled and took the PADD back and walked out.
