Acting Captain Mark Rhodes had been working late into the previous night and was back in early that morning to figure things out. He had spoke with the Chief of Security and decided some changes were needed. "Commander Dhej? Can you join me in the ready room please?" said Mark sinking into his desk chair.

Karim was about to report to his office after taking a nap, but changed direction, tapping his combadge and saying "Understood sir. On my way." Moments later, he walked into the ready room and said "You asked to see me sir?"

"We need to talk about something," said Mark. "Things are getting bad on this boat. I had to talk our Chief of Security down from resigning last night. There are problems all over the place and there is only a few options. First of all, I can no longer keep the Chief Medical officer in the brig, but I do not want to let her go back to doing what she is doing."

"She has disobeyed direct orders, or circumvented my orders time and time again. The only thing I can do to discipline her, the only thing I think she may be responsive too is a demotion. I want to replace her as Chief Medical Officer. I do not need a disrespectful officer running a department setting a bad example for her staff," said Mark simply.

Shocked by the Rhodes' direct tone, Karim was stunned for a moment, then replied "I would have to agree sir. I've heard rumors of some disagreements among the senior staff."

"Yes, and everything is tracing back to Doctor Rogers," said Mark bluntly. "I would like to demote her to Lieutenant, as well as take the department head position away from her. Lieutenant Quoicho, as been acting in her place while she was in the brig, I want to do something a little different with that department now. I want them both to run the department, jointly."

Thinking for a moment, Karim replied "Permission to speak freely sir?"

"By all means," said Mark.

Karim paused for a moment then added "Would it be possible sir to have Quoicho keep an eye on her? Not in a weird covert way, but more that she would keep us apprised of any odd behavior from Rogers?"

"I was counting on it," said Mark.

Nodding, he replied with a sigh " Then I support your decision sir. Having Doctor Rogers in the brig for who knows how long doesn't seem to be the best solution. The demotion, and promotion of Quoicho will hopefully help repair some of the ...tension that has been building."

"I have looked all of the facts over, and I do not believe her to be a traitor, but I do not trust her to continue in her current role. Her level of disrespect is appalling. She needs to realize she is replaceable, we all are," said Mark.

"I completely agree sir. I do want to bring up something if I may." he replied, then after a pause "I hate to plan for the worst, but how do we respond if she questions our decision? I've heard she is rather ... forceful at times"

"If she creates any more problems she will go back into the brig until a time that we can take her back to the Federation and have charges brought up," said Mark.

Nodding again, Karim said "Understood sir. Is there anything further sir?"

"Not that I can think," said Mark standing. "Hopefully this transition isn't too taxing. We have already had our fair share of hardships."

"I share that hope sir. I'll be on the bridge if you need me?" he replied.

"Understood. Thank you Commander," said Mark. He now turned and followed Karim out of the office. He boarded a turbolift and called for the "Brig."
