Her steps silent and surefooted as she moved from one cell to the next as she spoke to one of the junior officers who'd been on latest guard duty. Alyssa couldn't help hearing that both men had gone on a hungry strike lately and seemed to be getting worse.
"Alright, we may have to inform medical and have someone come check them out. I'll talk to the Captain and see what he wants to do with them." She said knowing they weren't going to be able to keep this up with the prisoners. "Go to lunch, I'll be with them for the next thirty minutes or so."
"Aye, Ma'am." Kincade replied before heading off for lunch.
Reaching the next Brig, she stood outside it a moment and watched the man within pace slowly. Something she'd observe him doing often.
The within man paid the gold clad officer no heed. He continued to pace. She was nothing special, there were countless, faceless nameless people that ogled at him. He did know she was the Chief however. All of a sudden the silence was broken as he stopped and turned to her with a sudden change of demeanor. "Help you with something Lieutenant?"
"You can talk to me... perhaps that would allow me to be able to help you get better things." Alyssa said warmly to the man.
"Ha," mused the man. "Help me? You want to help me? Open the door. That would be a step in the right direction," he said with a wide and wicked smile.
"Now that I can't do. But I'm sure I can get you some better food, or a different light/dark schedule so you could sleep better. You know, perks like that." Lucas said as she watched the man steadily.
He scoffed out loud, "'Perks'. One would think those wouldn't need to be perks. One would think you would give that stuff to a human as a basic right. Oh, but that is right I am not human am I? I am UFP," said he man turning his back to Aly.
"So it's alright for you and your group to kill others, but we show you a little discomfort and you want to complain? Tell me more abut the UFP, who you are working for? What is your groups over all mission?" Alyssa fired off the questions without hesitating.
"Who am I working for? Every citizen of the United Federation of Plants with a goal to uphold and maintain the status quo as laid out by the Constitution. Our mission? Apprehend the suspected traitor Eric Carpenter and any cohorts who attempt to stand in our way," turning back with a smug smile.
"Lieutenant Thelin th'Zarath, he didn't stand in your way?" Alyssa asked bluntly.
"He certainly tried," he said. "Managed to kill a few of my men in the process from what I hear. We shouldn't have played nice when he resisted. We should have just gunned him down, we would have been well within our orders if it happened."
"So why didn't you? Was he working for this UFP?" Aly now started to pace alongside the man. Learning all she could from what little bit of talking he was doing.
"Paperwork," he said with another wicked smile. "To much paperwork if I bring him back in a body bag. You being in security, you know how that is. Its all a pain in the-" he stopped himself.
"Yes, I know how that is." Aly didn't know what to say for the moment. So she just walked quietly with him some more. Perhaps waiting to see if he would simply offer more.
"So was there anything you wanted to talk about Lieutenant? Maybe have a shoulder to cry on? Did you have issues with your father when you were a child? I am here for you Lieutenant," he said coldly.
"Naw, my father was great. Now, I'm assuming that your father now.... I doubt he thinks very highly of you. After all, your nothing but a worthless piece of.... you couldn't even complete the task without getting yourself captured. And by a female at that." Alyssa said, in her own way working to antagonize the man.
"My father would be proud, had he not been sent to his death by your simple minded fleet," said the man. "But I can assure you Lieutenant... If I ever get out of here, you will be the first I come for," he turned his back and sat down crossing his legs on the floor."
"Sounds like he was a weak man... just like you are. So I have nothing to fear." Alyssa said with a slight smile to herself as he turned to face the oncoming officer once more. After giving him a few more instructions she headed off to write up a report for the Captain.
"Sleep tight Lieutueant," said the officer with his back turned hearing her boots walk off.
