Karim smiled as he saved the latest update to his research paper. It had been nice to have the time to just work on his medical research, and take a step away from his duties as XO. He knew it wasn't much of an update, but it was something. Happy that he had made some progress, he decided to treat himself to a break. Shutting down his terminal, he thought about what he wanted to do, then with a smile, quickly made his way out of his office to the turbolift.

Karim walked in to the lounge, and politely acknowledged the nods from the officers who stood as he entered. He didn't want to anyone to be uncomfortable with him, he was simply there to relax. Finding an empty table near the window, he took a seat, and waited for a server to approach him for his order.

Ricky and Aly were already in the lounge with Ricky nursing a rum 'n coke. Ricky just smiled at Aly, "so when we actually get RnR what shall we do?"

"I don't know... depends on where we are. Maybe take a short trip or just go for short fly around. We could always hit Risa. Less you have a better idea." She said with a little smirk before her gaze landed on Karim. "Oh.. have you met our XO?" She asked Ricky before giving a little wave to Karim and motion for him to come over. After all, she wanted to make sure Ricky had met everyone... well, almost everyone.

Karim noticed the wave, and picking up his Risan Sunrise, walked over to the duo. Nodding, he said "Hello Lieutenant Lucas. It's nice to see you." Turning his attention to the man beside her he said "I'm sorry, I'm not sure if we've met."

"Lieutenant Ricky Alessandro, master at arms and former Chief StratOps Officer of Starbase Zetari." Ricky said standing up and holding his hand out to shake the XOs hand.

Shaking the offered hand, Karim gestured at the seat in front of him, and then took a seat. With a smile he asked "I hope I'm not interrupting. I just stopped in for a drink before heading to bed."

"Aly, when we are off duty please. And we were just relaxing and talking about ideas for things to do during R&R times. You know, so we don't strangle people." She said, hinting to the rough time she'd been having, smiling sheepishly at the XO before taking a drink of her Margarita.

Nodding, he replied "In that case, call me Karim. And hopefully at some point we can have some R&R. Part of me would love to visit Risa again. I remember good times there as a young lady."

"Risa is nice but I think over played and use, me personally Andor." Ricky said with a smile.

"That would be someplace new to me." She said with a glance to Ricky with a cant of her head before looking back between them, still trying to get used to Karim's lady half as she smiled, much more relaxed than the last time the XO had seen her. "Either way, sounds like we all are wanting someplace relaxing and fun."

Blushing as he realized what he'd said, Karim replied "I'm sorry, it hasn't been that long since I was joined. Sometimes I use the wrong tenses when I access other hosts memories."

Ricky nodded looking at the XO, "Had a joined Trill on my team that had that issue." Ricky said leaving out what team he was talking about.

Smiling, he took a sip of his drink and said "Thanks, I appreciate your understanding. So how are you liking the Enterprise? Is Aly giving you a hard time yet?"

Ohh... don't you know she glanced to Ricky to see how he'd answer this one now. Another sip was taken as she enjoyed her drink, not something she allowed herself to do very often having to busy throwing herself into her work.

Smirking he took a sip of his drink before answering, "I'm glad to be out from behind a desk and as for the lieutenant here she knows how to get things done."

Sipping his drink, Karim said "I'm happy to hear that. It's always nice to have someone you can count on in your department." Pausing, he said "I for one am looking forward to getting back to some of my research when we're on downtime."

"You can say that again." She said softly in response to the counting on someone part. "In the meantime, it's good to at least be doing something again, at least we managed to stay away from the..." She suddenly paused as if realizing something and decided to trail her thoughts off differently. "...from some of trouble we were finding."

"Agreed" Karim replied "It's kind of nice to be in the middle of nowhere, exploring. Though I kind of wish it was under other circumstances."

Just than the small communication device went off, "Sorry to interrupt this but one of my master at arms mates needs my help." With that Ricky stood and headed out of the lounge and back to security.

She watched him go with a shake of her head. "Like it or not, we are always on duty... even when we try not to be." She said as she looked back to Karim. "I'm doing better... so you know."

"That's good to hear." Karim replied, then with a smirk "Can I ask you something personal?"

"Sure" Aly said as she focused on Karim now with interest at his question.

Smiling slightly, he said "Are you interested in Ricky? Because if you are, I approve. He's a good looking guy."

She chuckled softly as a slight hint of pink touched her cheeks. "He and I have had an on and off relationship... but yeah... I would like to see it on again on a more stable term. Just going to see how it rolls though. Though I'm glad you approve."

Chuckling, he replied "Who knows, if things progress with someone I've seen a couple of times, maybe we could double date? "

"Sounds like a good idea to me." There was a slight cant of her head. "Was it that obvious? Between Ricky and I..?"

Shaking his head, he replied "Not really. But for someone who's been both a man and a woman, it's pretty easy to pick up the cues."

"I suppose that does help when it comes to picking up on the little things like that." She said with a smile as she lifted her glass for another drink. "I'm glad you have possibly found someone."

Nodding, he said "Me too. It's slow going, with me being busy with my duties and all." Looking up at the chrono on the wall, he yawned and said "Sorry, I guess I'm more tired then I thought. Thanks for inviting me over Aly. We should hang out again sometime."

"Yes we should, for now though you have a good night and I'll see you around tomorrow." Aly said as she finished off her drink and got ready to stand too. She had an early rise in the morning herself.

Smiling, he quickly left the lounge, en route to his quarters.
