Jason Lucas strode down to the Botany and Biological labs. His work in installation of new kit had more or less concluded and he was now checking over some of the other deliveries that had been to other areas of the department, as he had been asked to by his chief, Lieutenant Commander Alexandrov. Arriving in one of the bays he stopped and looked around, seeing an ensign he approached her. "Hello Ensign"

Maira was feeling more like herself as the 'Jakk' was remaining in her system. The shakes, sweats along with the high heart rate were gone. Which made concentrating on her job all the easier expect for no one told her how behind the sub-department was behind in paper work and actually doing projects. "How can I help you Lieutenant?" Maria asked handing off a PADD before moving onto her next task.

"Jason Lucas," he held out his hand for her to shake, "I just wanted to come down and see how things were going ahead of the departure. The captain came to me yesterday to check in and so I'm doing the same on behalf of lieutenant commander Alexandrov." He paused, "Plus I don't think we've met before, you're new aren't you?"

"I am new. Ensign Maria Lionza, biologist." Maria said shaking his hand quickly before getting back to work. "As you can see the department is a mess. We are about 6 months behind on paperwork. There is no actual projects. The labs are a mess. Shall I go on?"

Jason could read her vibe, "No, I understand perfectly what you're saying. You've clearly got a handle on things, just carry on and we'll revisit this once you're in better shape". He paused, "How do you like the Enterprise, beyond this situation?"

"It's fine. Better then my last assignment." Maria said simply handing out several more PADDs with orders on it. "As for for the actual ship. A ship is a ship nothing more nothing less. I am a scientist I can perform my experiments anywhere." Maria said nonchalantly the Jakk not exactly doing what it should be doing.

A little underwhelmed, although not entirely surprised by the logical comments, Jason continued, "But it is the Enterprise, the federation flagship, doesn't that excite you?"

"I wish I could say it does but like I said before it's a ship." Maria said trying to keep herself clam but she could feel agitation building in her. Usually the scent of soil and plants help remain calm but it was doing the opposite. Closing her eyes she took a few deep breaths before opening her eyes.

"Well, nice to meet you, where are you from originally?"

"My apologies. Stress seems to be getting the best of me." Maria said her golden hazel eyes studying the man in front of her. "I am from a Terran colony Aurinia. We are considered Aurinian not Terran."

"Okay, got it" he replied, sensing that she was becoming a little agitated. He'd seen it before, some scientists just were not people people! "Ensign, I can see you're busy here and the last thing you need it my bugging you". He pulled up his sleeve and looked at the chrono on his wrist, "Gosh, is that the time, I must be going. It's been fun ensign. We'll have a science staff meeting soon, I've no doubt, we'll talk more then". He considered patting her on the back, and then thought better of it. "Until next time" he added.

"Lieutenant." Maria said politely but simply. As she went back to work. "Specialist where are those soil samples?!" She shouted across the rather large science bay.
