Gordon met Lieutenant Dorey Dame at Engineering at 0755, five minutes before the shift was due to start. Gordon had been to the mess hall before and had a good hearty breakfast to keep him going through the day, and he was now standing with The Dame and hoping he was ready for his first shift on duty in Engineering.

Dorey Dame had a PaDD in one hand and a mug of coffee in another. She had showed up a few min early in Main Engineering to get started. She stood at the main terminal cross checking information when Cadet Jones arrived a few min early for his shift. She checked her wrist chrono looking up to Jones. "Good morning Cadet. We have quite the day ahead of us," said The Dame. "You heard the Captain last night in the briefing. We have an entire ship to get up and running."

"Good morning ma'am and yes, I hope I will learn alot today, i'm ready to get started as soon as you are ma'am!" Said Gordon as he looked around the huge area that was engineering, with the huge warpcore taking up the majority of the area.

"Well first things first we have to get to the Aquarius," said The Dame she said grabbing her leather messenger bag filled with her tools. She grabbed started to lead the way to the TL. "And you dont need to go so happy with the ma'am stuff. I run a tight department, but we all have a rapport here."

"If you insist, it just seems weird calling a superior officer "The Dame"!" Gordon said as he grabbed a toolkit and jogged to catch up with her. "So, i've never seen the Aquarius, is she a good ship?" Gordon asked as they headed for the turbolift.

"Haven't really had a chance to get over there, no one really has," said The Dame as they stepped onto the TL. "Even Mar- Captain Rhodes didnt get a chance before he got promoted, we were all to busy. I know before we left spacedock the Chief Engineer of McKinley signed off on her sea trials, so the ship is sound. We just have to go back over and double check things. I know some of the subsystems that were not essential were not completed."

"So we'll be some of the first crew members to see her then, it should be good, just hope there isn't too many surprises waiting for us!" Gordon said as the turbolift arrived on deck 21, and they stepped out, heading towards the Aquarius's docking port. "So what do you expect we'll find on board then?" Gordon asked.

"To say we are the first wouldn't be true, but not many of us have been on board. Ive only been on a handful of times myself," she said stepping off the TL. They walked towards the bulkhead and Dorey put in her codes to open the airlock. "I just want to start up the warpcore and bring the main ship systems online today. I know the CMO will be over eventually, Cap' let me know he was going to speak with her about checking out the Aquarius, make sure its all ready to go just in case."

"I've never started a Warpcore before, is it quite simple to do with two of us?" Gordon asked, unsure of what was coming.

"Not to hard," said The Dame leading the way through a dully lit USS Aquarius. "I heard back in the day it would take quite the group to cold start one. With this ship having been tested, the warpcore should be ready to be started."

"Shall we get to work then?" Asked Gordon as they headed towards another turbolift.

After an active morning of getting things done and pushing buttons and twisting knobs, usual engineering things, The Dame and Gordon found themselves in main engineering of The USS Aquarius ready to bring the warp core online. The tame stood at the primary terminal with Gordon at a secondary EPS unit.

"Alright," she said. "I am going to start- wait... on second thought how about you take the lead here. Take this terminal."

Gordon headed over to the console the Dame was at and started powering up the consoles systems. "Ready when you are Dame!" Gordon said as he finished powering the console.

"Alright, start up your first initialization on my mark," Dorey made a few adjustments and readied her end. "Three... Two... One... Mark."

Gordon pressed a few more buttons to initialize the core and watched as it started to power up.

Once the initialization started the warp core started to glow a blue hue illuminating Main Engineering. The ships systems began their start up and the ship came alive.

"Very good," The Dame said walking to Gordan. "Now that we have everything up and running we need to go deck by deck and figure out what is needed. Lets start deck 1," she said grabbing her bag.

"Thank you!" Said Gordon, pleased of the compliment. He grabbed his toolkit and started following the Dame towards the bridge.
