Karim sat at his desk reading what was thankfully one of the last status reports he'd received since returning to the ship. The return had been thankfully swift, and without incident. After arriving aboard, he'd immediately beamed Sh'eik to Sickbay where he was currently recovering. He'd tried to strongly suggest Tierney spend some time there as well, but she'd refused, stating she wanted to recover in her quarters. Now here he was, trying to get brought up to speed of ship's business during his unexpected absence. Thankfully it hadn't been too long, or he wouldn't have been able to see over the amount of padds on his desk.

Standing, he crossed to the replicator and ordered a ratkajinko. He knew he should have ordered a tea or something relaxing, but he wanted to be alert. Sleep could wait, he wanted to get his feet back under him and hope to smooth things over with Mark about his decision. Taking a sip, he decided to do just that and tapped his combadge. "Dhej to Rhodes. Please report to my office." After a moment, the computer replied "Captain Rhodes is not currently on the Enterprise." Shocked, Karim took a moment and then replied "Clarify. When did Captain Rhodes depart the ship?". "That information is classified. Any requests for information about Captain Mark Rhodes require command code access." the computer replied calmly. Sighing, he said "Computer, recognize Dhej, Karim, Lieutenant Commander. Command code Dhej Gamma Epsilon Blue 407." "Command codes recognized. Captain Mark Rhodes departed the Enterprise at 0800 hours as per classified orders from Starfleet Command. No other information is available."

Shaking his head in confusion, he said "Computer, are there any further orders included in that message for myself or the Enterprise?" "Negative" the computer replied "No other messages are pending for Lieutenant Commander Dhej." Confused, he crossed to his desk and began combing through any messages he'd received, trying to find out if Mark had contacted him before he left. Sighing, he sat back in his chair, realizing that he was now, temporarily at least, in command of the Enterprise. He needed to try to center himself, and began working on a list of things he needed to check up on to know what to do next.
