As of orders, Adrianna headed down to engineering. The captain seemed nice, if somewhat different. Arriving at the chief engineer's office, she sounded the chime.

"Come," called the Dame from inside. She had a mountain of PaDDs of various ship systems running into conflicts. Loads of work, and never enough staff to do it.

"Good morning," chirped the woman, "My name is Adrianna Hunter, I'm the acting XO, just introducing myself."

The women walked into the office and Dorey looked up. "Nice to meet you ma'am. Lieutenant Dorey Dame, Chief Engineer, but the boys all call me The Dame. Old nick name that kind of stuck."

"It's not a bad nickname to have, Lieutenant," the woman chucked, "Also, thought I'd make sure that the engineering department is ready in this upcoming mission and the usual questions you get questioned on."

"By all means ma'am," she said gesturing to a chair in front of her desk. "Have a seat if you'd like."

"Thank you," Adrianna smiled, "It's just a question of whether you feel you are prepared enough for a worst case scenario as there may be a strain on systems."

"I am an engineer... I am always prepared for worst case scenarios... ma'am," replied The Dame. "You seem worried, is there something I should know about this mission the briefings are not telling us?"

"No," the woman was honest in her response, "just the usual questions that the captain has requested me to get answered. Plus, it means I can get a feel for the ship myself, "My next and final question though is, obvious medical will be under a lot of pressure and replicators in that area will be used more than normal. Are you prepared for that also?"

"I have been working with the Chief of Medicine, we have been running into some problems, but its usual shake down on a newly constructed ship. I know we don't like to hear it, and I certainly don't like to admit it... But things break. We are still learning ship systems and everything has its quarks. I can assure you ma'am, Engineering will be ready for whatever you have to throw at us."

"Is there anything I can do to aide your department, in preparation, that you can think of?" she asked.

"Not that I am aware," said Dorey. "However ma'am, welcome aboard. If there is anything that you need of me or my staff do not hesitate to ask."

"I'll leave you to it then," she nodded and stood back up and went to leave, "Good day lieutenant."
