Mission: Agua Mala

[Enterprise]

Anger. Maec stared into his mother’s lifeless eyes and felt of all things…anger. It was wrong- the emotion felt out of place but there it was. There was anger towards her and there was satisfaction over her death. He looked down at his hands and found the handle of a tea cask in his grasp. He looked over to his mother and felt glee…he had killed her. She deserved it. It was…he shuddered. His mother’s raven black hair slowly melted away to snow and that olive tinted flesh became blotted paleness. The creature wasn’t his mother but the title of mother hovered in his mind like some unwanted label everytime he looked at the fiendish creature in front of him.

Maec suddenly stepped backwards as life seemed to seep back into those dead irises shortly before her face lifted away from the pillow. Her neck twisted and her focus was on him as silken hair poured onto the pillow “XUE’DIAO” the shrill yell reverberated in his ears and sent him to a kneel while pressing his palms into his ears. She rose from the bed, vermillion robes fallings around her, and slowly started towards Maec. He wanted to reach out and strangle her…the monster…and yet felt paralyzed. It was as if lightning coursed through his veins overloading every neural connection in body. “You must die!”

Sitting up Maec gasped for air and turned rolling off the bed pulling the bedsheets with him. One the floor he coughed and hacked while clawing at his throat. When his mind finally registered the dream he shuddered violently before his muscles finally relaxed. A hiss of air echoed in the room as Fveirrohl rushed inside frantically searching for his master until he finally located him on the floor.

“Master! Master!” Fveirrolh ran his hands along the sheets pulling them away from Maec’s shivering and stuttering frame. “Should I call the doctor?” He stood up and headed for the nearby control panel but was stopped by a hoarse command.

“khoi!”

The nervous servant turned and looked at Maec whose pale olive skin glimmered with sweat under the dim room lights “Fvah dha'nia Kholairlh-a nahi demair?”

“Aehallh…” Maec said through his hoarseness. Reaching up he grabbed a handful of the mattress and started to pull himself back onto the bed. Rushing to his side Fveirrolh helped him back onto the bed. “That creature did something to me…she…” he coughed and laid back onto the bed feeling little energy “she…I don’t understand it but she has put something in my mind.”

“How is that possible?”

“I do not know…” Maec rubbed his sweat drenched forehead “perhaps when she attacked me?” He clinched his fist angrily but quickly softened it finding the energy required for even that much a bit too taxing.

“Would you like water?”

“Yes, please.” Maec said while staring at the ceiling. Fveirrolh disappeared for a short moment before returning with a tall glass filled with cool water. Sitting on the edge of the bed he carefully helped to lift his master up and gently pressed the glass against his lips.

“Slowly.”

The cold touch of liquid against his lips seemed to momentarily soothe him as the tension in his body eased. Taking a few sips Maec pulled away from Fveirrolh. “I must kill her.”

Startled the servant released his support allowing Maec to fall back into the mattress “kill who?”

“That demon.”

“The…princess?”

“I think.” Maec said.

“Perhaps it would be best if I called the doctor…it would do neither of us good if you kill someone of royalty…your aunt would not be pleased.”

“No.” Maec said. Slowly pulling himself up upon his elbows he looked out his window at the planet swirling below “there seems to be something more. I feel…like I must kill someone. Perhaps not the princess but someone related to her. The bloodlust flowing through my veins is unimaginable.” Just remembering that image of his mother being distorted into that demon brought with it intense fury- a murderous feeling.

“Master please do not think ill of me but I think it best if we go to the ship’s surgeon Something has happened to you and you need to be see-”

“Enough!” Maec snapped suddenly finding energy in his hatred of this demon from his dreams. “Leave me be for the moment Fveirrolh- I need time to think.”

“Master…”

“Out!”

Fveirrolh bowed his head and retreated from the room. As the door closed behind him the servant stared at it wondering what the young master might do. This was not good…
