Duty Log | Lt Sato-Pryce | "Gweithredu yn y dirgel"

Mission: Where no man has gone before.

Rhiannon was on the bridge briefly, after her prescribed night's rest, she wanted to go over some system before she met with Rhodes and Rhys about the Phased Disruptors.

Her console beeped.

A communique. From Starfleet. Priority one? That's odd. It was marked Captain's Eyes Only, so she tapped her badge. "Captain, we are receiving a priority one encrypted communication from Starfleet Command. Its a message, not a channel."

"Route it through to my quarters." Carpenter ordered.

Rhiannon did as she was bade. Then an idea occurred to her...It would break so many rules, but a priority one message marked eyes only? She had to see what this was. Looking around the nearly empty bridge, so filtered the message through her console on it's way to Carpenter's quarters. Lowering the volume so only she could hear it, she played the message. She was not prepared for what she saw.

The Federation logo on the screen was briefly replaced with a Starfleet Delta. Then a Fleet Admiral's face appeared on the screen. It was probably Fleet Admiral Malone. She'd never met but few in Starfleet didn't know of a story or two about him.

"To all Federation starships within range of this transmission, this is Admiral Malone. Starfleet is falling victim to a Coup`et`tat on Earth, and will soon be replaced by forces opposed to the ideals of the Federation and Starfleet. I call upon all Captain's to stand fast and loyal to your oaths of loyalty to the Federation you serve, and to Starfleet Command. I will soon be ousted from my legitimate office, and replaced by another who will call upon you for service under the uniform code. I urge you to resist. I urge you to either rally under my flag, or take your ship into deep space, and stay there until further instructed. Confirmation code will be 'Excalibur Two Six Four Delta'. If orders do not contain that code, disregard all orders from Starfleet Command."

"Starfleet Command has fallen. I say again, Starfleet Command has fallen. Good luck to you all, and God Bless. Malone out."

"Duw sanctaidd trugarha!" she muttered. Panicked she hastily cleared the message from her screen and deleted any record of it being played at her terminal. If the Captain found out she knew about this... Well it would depend on which way he went. Supporting Malone or the usurpers. And if he supported Malone, would he order the Enterprise to stand with the Admiral? Or hasten our departure into deep space.

Rhiannon had no way of guessing. She could not let anyone know that she knew this. If anyone else found out, it could led to chaos onboard, people picking sides. The ship wouldn't be able to function. So, Rhiannon figured, unless Carpenter felt a pressing need to stand with Malone, the likeliest outcome would be the Enterprise getting the 'hell out of dodge'. She'd be too prestigious a prize for either side to risk wading into the coup.

She finished up her work and logged out. She made sure she walked naturally to the turbolift, but she was sure everyone was staring out her. Like they knew she knew. But that was just the anxiety.

She entered the turbolift, and the doors slid closed. She leant against the wall, trying to get her breathing under control. This was a disaster, she had friends that might get killed.

Rhiannon Evelyn Sato-Pryce! Pull yourself together. You are a Starfleet Officer and you will damn well act like one.

She stood up straight, feeling admonished. She knew that there was absolutely nothing she could do. She should never have snuck a peek at that message, Pandora's Box much? Ignorance definitely would've been bliss.

She needed to go somewhere to collect her thoughts. And she knew just the place.

=/\= Cordoned off section of the Library on Deck 6 =/\=

The librarian was pissed at her for sure, but Operations having it's own lab would be so useful. So the Library was halved to make room for the lab.

Rhiannon eyed the door.

This was her domain. Soon, inside that room she would be Queen and Ruler. It was frightening and comforting all at the same time. She touched the control panel and the door slid open. Things were in various states of deconstruction, so it still looked vaguely library-ish. No working terminals yet, but there were a few chairs.

She took one and sat down, she spun around, surveying the room.

She immediately stopped when she saw him. And big bulky, bald man. Red Division, Chief Warrant Officer pip. Quartermaster? Boatswain?

He looked at her, "You're wondering if I'm the Quartermaster or the Ship Boatswain, right?" He asked with a voice that sounded like he was gargling rocks made of neutronium.

Rhiannon simply nodded.

"I'm both." he smiled, and held out his hand. "Name's Bastion, Bastion Forte. And you're Rhiannon Sato-Pryce I take it?"

Rhiannon stood, taking his hand, "Indeed." she almost squeaked. This man looked strong enough to snap her like a twig, and he was a Chief Warrant Office meaning he's probably been in and around Starfleet longer than she's been alive. She found her voice, "What are you doing here?"

"Well I heard you wanted Ops to have it's own lab, so I came here to check it out. This room is a solid choice, the library's connections run all throughout the main ODN lines, and the proximity to the Computer Core will mean that any minute lag caused by distance will be even more negligible. If it works as well as I think it will, then the new Ops Lab will probably know before the rest of the ship."

"Know what?"

"Anything." Bastion smiled.

Rhiannon couldn't help but smile in return, "Well I'm not sure I'd go that far, but I did choose this location for those exact reasons. I just have to talk to the Chief Engineer about- Oh shit!"

"What?"

"I have a meeting with him and the Chief Tactical Officer, like now."

"You better scamper then hadn't you?"

"I'll see you later, we will need to go over some things."

Bastion nodded. "Just let me know when."
