Joint Personal Log - LtCmdr Rinehart & Fabla - "Saving The Princess"

Mission: Suicidal Running Title

Fabla wandered the corridors of the Enterprise, following the lights along the computer display in the corridors that guided her. Even though she'd visited sickbay once before, this mighty ship was intimidating and she wasn't yet confident she could find her way on her own. It was there the computer said she'd find Tierney.

This time, it was noisy and chaotic, Doctor Rogers was on a biobed instead of greeting Fabla at the door, and swarms of medical people worked around her.

"Tierney?" Fabla called her friend's name as she turned her attention away from the swarm around Doctor Rogers.

A single eye opened at the sound of her name piercing through what sounded as if she were under water. It rolled behind heavy lids as she fought to surface to consciousness and finally settled on Fabla. She offered her friend a sleepy smile. "Hi." Tierney said, genuinely pleased to see the green skinned woman, "If they catch you it won't be good, Fabla."

"Catch me?" Fabla made a face as she moved close. "Nadik was... snooping," Fabla started in a whisper, as she leaned close to her friend. "He said someone tried to kill you."

Tierney rolled halfway onto her back, allowing her to open the other eye and look at her friend closely. "Nadik shouldn't do that." She chastised half-heartedly, her head beginning to throb somewhere behind her temples. "They tried, they failed, there will be more behind them." The smile of greeting faded to a somber, tired pout.

"When he first mentioned it, we had an hour long fight about why he should not. He did not listen to me," Fabla grumbled. "When he spoke of the attempt, he wanted to run... From here and from the Enterprise, after collecting you. He was very adamant. I told him that is your call."

Shaking her head slightly, the Star-child forced herself up to sit, swinging her legs off the side of the bed, "We're not leaving the Enterprise." Said Tierney, using her arms for added support and balance as she settled on the edge of the bed, "I told the Captain he should leave me behind and run. He refused." She continued, tilting her head to one side as she strung together thoughts in her sleep fogged mind. "He said he'd never leave me behind."

"That is sweet of him. Though perhaps not tactically sound? At least if we make a show of running, then sneak back... We do have the-" Fabla was about to mention the cloak, but then it occurred to her that perhaps not all of the Enterprise crew may not be aware of it. "How were you found?"

Again, Tierney's head shook. "It's dangerous for the Enterprise to have me here. Doctor Rogers nearly died. I don't want that responsibility." She sighed heavily, trying to clear her tired mind of the cobwebs that seemed to have collected there since the tussle. "The bounty hunter said a little birdy told him I was here. Making a show of it may not have much of an impact if the bird flies on the ship." A shaky hand came up to rub along her dry lower lip as the biobed chirped that as it began to drip another bag of fluid into her parched body. "I don't want him to be hurt. I don't want any of them hurt, but especially him, Fabla."

"We should return to the Figaro," the green woman insisted, looking around. No one appeared to be paying them any mind, but some were better at observing without being noticed than others. "Will they let you leave, or must we sneak you out?" Fabla eyed the biobed and it's read outs. She wished she'd brought Zerra with her.

"Go?" She asked, blinking back at the Orion, "They won't let me go and if I sneak out..." She silenced herself, remembering how Mark had offered up his quarters to her, how she'd agreed. She knew she could disappear onto the Figaro and beam directly site to site without being caught or found out. Just like she had the night they'd arrived back at the side of the Enterprise. "They have me hooked up to fluids." Tierney gestured to the bag dripping steadily, "I need to hydrate. Can we set that up on Figaro?" In truth she didn't want to be in the ship's sickbay, didn't want to continuously run the risk that someone would recognize that she wasn't human.

"If we are stocked in the med bay, Zerra should be able to see to your hydration," Fabla allowed. "Zerra did not say we were in need of anything, and she did spend some time down there when we first arrived to the Enterprise."

"Or a tub." chirped the halfling, "I just need rest and hydration."

"...Are humans like a sponge?" Fabla asked, her pretty green brow furrowing.

The exhausted Starling shook her head and chewed on her lower lip, "No. No they're not." She replied, "but it feels so good." Another person, another cover, another half truth -- she was thankful she was awake enough to think fast.

"That was perhaps a silly question for me to ask," Fabla insisted with a laugh, looking for a nurse. "Should I ask if I can take you, or may we go?"

"Gonna have to ask, they get really touchy when people randomly disappear." Tierney replied, forcing herself onto her tired feet and carefully unhooked the line feeding her live saving fluids. "Just get me out of here?" She pleaded, setting the instruments down and grabbing her jacket from a nearby chair.

Fabla nodded, looking again for a doctor or nurse. When she spotted one that looked like they weren't involved with something, she marched over with a determined look on her face.

"I need to take Tierney to her quarters. She will be better able to rest there," Fabla stated simply.

A nurse sighed, "I told the Captain she needed her rest and now you?" The hen-like woman put her hands on her hips and nearly blanched as she noticed Tierney coming up behind the Orion. "If she's able to walk around like that, fine. But no duty for at least two days unless she's behind a desk. How she managed to dehydrate like that is still a mystery. We'll want to monitor her, clear?"

"Two days, no duty. I will not let her out of my sight," Fabla assured the woman with a dazzling smile.

"Fine. Never out of your sight." The hen reiterated and signed a PaDD that had been hidden in her labcoat pockets. Handing it to Fabla, she eyed the little intel officer beside her quizzically.

"We're good to go?" Tierney peered back, with a raised eyebrow, tugging her jacket on and closed.

"I wouldn't say good, but you can leave."

"Thank you," Fabla directed at the nurse, wrapping an arm around Tierney's shoulders protectively. "Let us go before Nadik does something on your behalf that we will regret," she whispered to her friend.

Tierney was about issue one of her more biting comments, when Fabla tugged her away, leaving the zing hot on the tip of her tongue as she blinked and allowed herself to be ushered along. The thought of Nadik doing something rash took priority, for the moment, "in that case, must go faster."
