Mission: Suicidal Running Title

Sometimes, and only on truly rare occasions, being an Intel officer had its perks. In this case, it had afforded Tierney the knowledge that Scarlet had been accused of treason and unceremoniously dumped in the ship's brig. It gave her the chance to oversee what evidence they had against the other ginger-maned woman and time to sigh and mull it over. In her heart of hearts, Tierney knew that her friend hadn't committed the crime, or perhaps it was more like wishful thinking and praying that her friend wouldn't double cross the Enterprise... Wouldn't dare try hurt, let alone kill, her. But... If wishes were horses...

Getting rid of the security guards had been child's play. By request alone they stepped out and left the Starling standing there solo, watching her friend as she lay on the floor behind the force field. She sighed, stepping closer to a panel and pressing a button to open communications within the cell, "I brought you some things, Scarlet." seemed the appropriate way to start.

Scarlet remained still, staring at the blank ceiling, "Thank you, Tierney."

The Starling's nose twitched as she watched her friend so dismal and bleak. The running of fingers dropped the force field in a show of trust that the other woman wouldn't simply run away, and Tierney stepped into the cell. "Yoga pants and a tank top, have to be far more comfortable than what you have on." She admonished Scarlet.

Still not moving, Scarlet blankly said, "Thank you, they probably will be, but the security cameras in here make it a little awkward."

"I can hold up a blanket, give you some privacy." The smaller woman offered, setting the small box of items down, "and if you get hungry I brought you a few treats to nosh on."

Scarlet looked at Tierney finally, "I just want to go home," Scarlet finally said with tears in her eyes. Not many people had seen Scarlet cry and she had made sure of it.

A small, sad smile tugged at Tierney's lips and she came to sit beside the doctor, folding her coltish legs and leaning her elbows on her knees, "I know." She said softly, "I'm working on getting you out of here, pulling security information from the station as fast as I can."

"I haven't done anything that would warrant me to be classed as a traitor. I don't understand. My physical health sucks and my mental health is depleting in here. There's nothing to do, no one to talk to, the walls are blank. I need to get out of here."

Here the Starling sighed and shook her head, "You've threatened a few people, including me... As half-hearted as it all was, people are grasping at straws here trying to solve this."

"I threaten people out of authority and for the up keep of my own job," she sighed, "Anyone who's anyone knows that I'm all bark no bite."

"Of course." Tierney nodded, "but it's straw grasping, Scarlet. I need you to hang tight and be patient. I know you didn't do this, why would you have put yourself in danger's path if you knew I was going to be taken out by a bounty hunter?"

Scarlet looked back to the ceiling letting a tear run down her cheek onto the floor, "It was just a coincidence and nothing more, maybe even a happy accident from your perspective."

"A happy accident?" An eyebrow lifted and Tierney moved to lean over the other woman, "Coincidence yes, but a happy accident? Never. I'd rather have died then this happen, Scarlet."

"Regardless, I would've still been dragged in here for not following orders and attacking a security officer," Scarlet sighed catching Tierney's eye contact, "You're alive though. Happy accident."

"So what? Lucas is just as guilty and she knows it." Scoffed the Intel officer, reaching to wipe away one of her friend's tears, "Hardly happy. You don't deserve this and we'll get you out of here soon."

"I'm going to need a shrink evaluation after being here," Scarlet smiled slightly, "and probably a few weeks off to heal up properly. All I want to do, is my job, but I'm restricted in the healing process here. Can't they give me the equivalent of a house arrest?"

"I'd like them too, but that's Captain Rhodes' call." Tierney managed a smile of her own, setting back to sit flush with the floor. "All I can do is give my recommendations and you know how much they just love me/"

"You're kind of close to the captain though," the doctor pleaded, "This place is doing me no good physically, or mentally, and it will help no one if someone gets here and I'm no longer breathing."

Her eyes closed at the mention of Mark and a sigh pressed her for release, "I'll speak with him. I have no sway over him, though. I can only suggest and hope he follows through."

"I'm not sure how long I'm going to last in here if I have to stay," Scarlet warned, utterly serious.

"And that will be part of my argument." Tierney nodded.

"The captain and I, aren't exactly on good terms so I doubt it'll help, but if you don't ask, you don't get right?" Scarlet asked looking to Tierney.

"Precisely." She nodded again, and reached towards the box of goodies, dragging it closer and pushing it towards the depressed doctor. "To the brightside?"

"Is that real alcohol?" Scarlet raised an eyebrow, sitting up slowly and painfully onto her elbows.

"No." Tierney chuckled lightly, tugging the bottle from the box, "I didn't want it to interact with any of your medications. I owe you a nice bottle of the real stuff when you're out of here, though." She grinned a bit.

"It will be welcomed with an open mouth," Scarlet smiled a little, "What do you have here then?"

"A little fruit elixir I found when I was on Earth." Tierney hummed, working the bottle, "I brought some with me when I transferred here, and figured there was no better reason to share than to help brighten a friend's day." She added, setting the foil down and untwisting the wire holding the cork in place.

The young doctor smiled and sat up properly, still pained, "Thank you."

"You don't need to thank me," She smiled in return, the cork popping free of its glass prison into her tiny hand, "Enjoy." Tierney said, handing the bottle to her friend for the first sip. "I also brought muffins and other morale boosting goodies."

"You are a good friend Tierney," she smiled looking to the bottle. Leaning over Scarlet kissed Tierney's cheek, "thank you."

"I try." Warmed to the core, the Starling wrapped her arms around Scarlet in a gentle hug, "We'll get you through this, I promise."

"Please help me," Scarlet once more pleaded resting her head on Rinehart's shoulder.
