Mission: Suicidal Running Title

The night was where Tierney felt most comfortable. It was quiet, hardly a soul stirred aside from night watch security and it left her able to wander the corridors free and easy. Jogging was her preferred method of fitness, the holodeck, however, was far from her preferred place to indulge in her little habit -- and that left the decks as her only option. Footfall after footfall saw the ponytailed young woman feeling refreshed, new, energized. They allowed her to forget her woes and simply live in the moment, heart racing, blood pumping, alive.

Aly was heading back to her quarters after doing a last check on those in the Brig. A couple PaDD's in her hands that she was hoping to get though before she crashed out for the night. The sounds of footfalls had her side stepping and glancing in the direction that they where coming from. Tensing a little as she watched the oncoming woman.

A slew of curses sped through Tierney's mind as she rounded a bend and into Aly's path, forcing her to drop from her jog and hit the breaks, nearly colliding with the taller Security officer. Confrontation had never been her cup of tea, unsolicited touch and people actually ranked higher on her scale of favorite things and none of the above were particularly wanted in her life given the life she'd been forced to live. Isolated. An outcast. She too skittered like a leaf on the breeze, cross-stepping to avoid the woman and feeling the burning tug of an old untended to knee injury begging her not to do that again and to wait before moving on. Hello discomfort you old fiend, she thought. "Evening." She offered, leaning against a bulkhead to take stress away from her tender bursa.

"Evening, Commander" Aly said with a slight nod of her head to the woman. After all, she'd opted to bring up rank when she was off duty, so she wasn't taking any chances with Tierney this time. "You alright?" She said with a slight nod to the redheads knee.

"Yeah. Just an old injury that acts up every once in awhile." She replied and looked down at the offending area, "Every once in awhile it likes to remind me that it still exists."

"Ahh... well if it gets too bad you might want to talk to the Doctor." She gave a little shrug. "Was just a suggestion is all Commander. Anyways, I should get going, need to get to my quarters."

Tierney shrugged lightly, uncomfortable with the way the security officer was dancing on proverbial eggshells around her. However, it was understandable. It wasn't often that someone jumped feet first into another officer's rear-end when they were supposed to be resting. The ambush had left a poor taste in the Starling's mouth, so poor in fact she'd gone to Karim in search of guidance and comfort. She sighed, a soft sound, and looked to the other woman. "When you have time, we should consider a less chaotic lunch. I feel I owe you that."

It wasn't often one could surprise her, at least it didn't use to be. Though with the people on this ship she was finding they surprised her more and more with the way they were. She shifted slightly as she pondered this idea. Not overly sure what she would be getting herself into if she said yes. Even still though she gave a nod of her head, after all... it could at least help her learn why the woman felt so strongly against her. "It will have to be after this week." She said with a slightly softer tone in her voice now.

"Sounds fair. It's been a busy week and it's only going to get more insane, I'm sure." The shorter Starling nodded in agreement, pushing loose hair from her face. She could see the surprise and discomfort wrought across the security officer's face, knowing that her own moment of bravado had created it and left it hanging with doubt and a small measure of fear as anchor points. Disturbing, Tierney thought and pulled her lips tight in thought, releasing them with a breath, "For what it's worth, Lucas, I don't dislike you. Business is business."

"No, Business is working together as a team for the greater good. Not one person thinking they are better then everyone just because of there rank or position." Aly said softly with a shake of her head. "I need to get to my quarters." Rather thankful for the given punishment now, she was finding more and more that the quietness of her room was giving her comfort that she wasn't finding with people.

An eyebrow went up, slender and sanguine. It didn't deserve an answer, the attitude she'd been met with unwarranted and cold and so, with the shake of her head, Tierney once more continued on her way -- this time at a walk with her hands on her hips.
