Mission: Where no man has gone before.

Lieutenant Commander Mark Rhodes heard his commbadge chirp. He rolled over and drifted back to sleep. A couple seconds later it started chirping again. Finally rolling over and opening his eyes he snatched his communicator off of his coffee table. "Commander Rhodes here," he said slightly groggily.

"Yes, Commander," said the voice on the other end Mark did not recognize. "We are preparing to preform the first initialization of the Warp Core. Your instructions were to be informed when we were doing so."

"Thank you," said Mark standing up, "Ill be right there." He closed the comm line and pinned the commbadge to his chest. "Computer, lights," Mark said as the lights came up in his office. He sat back on the love seat, folding the replicated wool blanket and laid it on the back of the couch.

Since his quarters were not prepared, he decided he would just crash in his office. Granted the loveseat was not nearly long enough for him to stretch out on it worked for a couple quick hours of sleep.

He grabbed a PaDD and caught up on the current state of things in Engineering. He noticed that the Commanding Officer has come aboard and officially been given command, vowing that the ship would be underway by 0900 tomorrow.

Tossing the PaDD aside, Mark put his boots on and adjusted his uniform. He stood up and exited his office. There were still many gold clad officers moving around and a couple officers standing at the main table top terminal. While there were still many officers working, the amount of open panels, empty boxes and hanging wires had decreased. Main Engineering was starting to get back to a look of order and cleanliness. "Alright folks," said Mark walking up to the main terminal. "Hows everything looking?" he started pulling up information.

"Just about ready to start up," said the Ensign who had contacted Mark. "We were just waiting for you, sir."

"Understood." Mark took a tricorder off of the table and walked over to the Dilithium Articulation Frame. He pulled the frame out and inspected the Dilithium Crystals once more. Making a few adjustments he closed the frame and locked it closed.

He moved back to the terminal and began the first initialization of the ships Warp Core. Making a few adjustments to the Intermix ratio the first. After a few moments of silence from Mark and his staff the Ensign said "Bringing the Plasma Injectors online."

After a few more moments of quiet work another officer piped up, "Self perpetuating Matter-antimatter reaction achieved." A few seconds later the gentle hum of the Warp Core started and the area became lightly bathed in a light blue hue. "Electro-plasma grid online," the officer said.

"Very good everybody," said Mark. "Start putting the core though its paces," Mark looked at his chrono and it read 0930. He smiled to himself as he knew it was running before his 1200 estimation. A good engineer was always a wee bit conservative, he had to start making a name for himself as a miracle worker.

With the Warp Core online Mark decided he would now venture up to the bridge and finally meet the Commanding Officer and give him the good news in person. He moved updated information pertaining to ship systems, to read on the way, from the Table Terminal to a PaDD and headed for a turbolift.
