Mission: Where no man has gone before.
Location: Executive Officer's Office.

=/\= Executive Officer's Office, Deck 2, USS Enterprise =/\=

Placing his feet up on the desk, Thelin found himself scrolling through another report from the Quartermaster and one of the personnel officers in Security, the majority of the junior officers had arrived and reported in, he was still expecting a few more senior officers, including one he had already met onboard McKinley.

Outside of the soundproofed room, his young assistant busied herself with some of the more menial paperwork, the main door to the office closed and waiting for the next officer to arrive.

Dr Rogers smiled at the assistant, "Is it ok for me to go in?" she asked nervously.

"Yes Ma'am, Commander th'Zarath is free," the young Trill replied with a bright smile and a slightly wild nod of the head.

Scarlet continued to walk through to his office and poked her head around the door.

Thelin had seen the doctor arrive, the walls of the inner office being clear but soundproofed, he gave her a smile as she stepped in through the door which slid open as she approached, "Welcome to the Enterprise Doctor." the Andorian said as she began to approach the desk.

"Thank you, sir," she smiled as she walked in, politely and offered her hand.

Shaking the offered hand, Thelin gestured towards the seat opposite him and nodded at his assistant who occupied the doorway, "Would you care for some tea? I've managed to get my hands on a rather fine Vulcan spiced blend," the Andorian replied as the Trill hurried off towards the replicator, gathering the tea tray and leaves as she passed them.

"I shall certainly try it, sir," she looked to the seat and moved over to sit down before watching the Andorian once more.

Returning quickly, the Trill assistant placed the tray down on the edge of the table and placed the two mugs before the officers, pouring the steaming tea and placing the pot back on the tray, she backed out with a smile and left the two officers to their conversation.

"So Doctor, have you had a chance to look over you new medical facilities yet?" the Andorian asked as he picked up the mug that had been placed before him and took a sip, "Quite refreshing when you've been dealing with paperwork all day," he added with a quick chuckle as his antennae narrowed towards the young Doctor.

With a sip and slight regret as it seemed far too hot, "Mmm, yes, I'm sure it is. Well, yes, I have finally seen the medical facilities. Everything is quite new to me, and I feel like I haven't been out of the academy for THAT long, but still. I'm sure it's just the layout as opposed to the actual equipment. I will make myself familiar with everything in my down time."

"Of course, this layout is still new to all of us, it took me quite some time to make my way around the ship when I boarded," Thelin replied as he placed the mug down and pulled out a couple of padds, checking them over before handing them across the desk, "It would seem that a few people are due for their medicals, including the Captain, when he arrives, I want you to make sure that he does not attempt to skip it, some Commanding Officers will do anything to avoid it."

"I have no issue in persuading people to go to medicals, ask my previous captain," she smirked a little and chuckled.

"Well, just make sure you are persistent," Thelin replied as the mug was picked up again, another sip of the spiced tea passed his lips and a sigh was emitted.

"They will have their medical check ups sorted even if I need a toy phaser gun, sir," she grinned and sipped her tea after blowing it lightly to cool it down.

"Excellent," the Andorian replied with a nod, "I'd also like you to run some emergency drills to test the readiness of your staff, I'd rather be prepared for anything that may happen."

"Sir, with all due respect, but medical staff are prepared with or without drills. Are we expecting to be in need of them?" she leant back in her chair waiting for a response.

"We're expecting nothing, we'll be running a shakedown cruise initially, which will just be a test of the ship's systems, but I like to run a tight ship and I need to know exactly how your staff will fare under pressure," Thelin replied with a slight nod as his antennae narrowed towards the doctor, "I do understand that they are professionals, but this is a new environment and most of them are new to each other, they have not as yet been tested as a team."

"If all is ok with you, sir, I would much prefer to do team building exercises than drills," Scarlet smiled and drank her tea slowly.

"I understand your concerns Doctor, but I will require you to run drills at some point in the near future, it is not because I do not trust you and your team, it is because I want to know how well they will react," the Andorian replied, reiterating his point, "They should not take too much time to complete and can be quite useful as a training tool for any of the fresh recruits."

"Fine," Scarlet said in distaste, she knew he was right, but also felt it was a waste of time.

"Thank you Doctor," Thelin replied with a slight smile and a nod that caused his antennae to shift a little, "Is there anything I can do for you? Or shall I let you finish getting settled in?"

"No, you just need your check up," she smiled and stood up.

"If there is nothing else, then I shall see you later in the week for my physical," the Andorian replied quickly, "I shall be prompt about having it, leading by example."

"Ok, I'll be in my office," she responded before walking out.

As the young woman left, the Andorian looked up at the face of his assistant appearing at his desk, "I've placed your physical into your schedule sir." she chirped before turning and leaving too.
