Joint Log | CO & CMO | Capt. Carpenter & LtCmdr. Rogers | "The Captain's Medical"

Mission: Where no man has gone before.

Scarlet poked her head round the door of the Captain's office, "Sir? I wanted to introduce myself, I'm Doctor Scarlet Rogers, your new CMO."

Eric looked up from his desk, wondering why the door was open, given that the chime hadn't gone off or anything like that. Made him wonder if this ginger haired woman standing in the doorway had done a door override... he'd have to check on that. Abusing door overrides would get her into trouble. Of course, given the problems with the damn ship, it could just be the door was broken. Deciding to just roll with the lack of privacy, he smiled. "Ah yes, our fast-tracked Doctor. Lieutenant Commander at 21, probably an actual first for Starfleet. Do come in."

Scarlet smiled, "Thank you, sir, I hope you don't mind, your door was open and I was told I needed to find you." She offered her hand to the captain as she walked towards him.

Eric stood from his chair and accepted her hand. "I'm not sure why the door was open, but I'll take your word for it." He smiled. "Who told you to meander up from deck 10 to come find me?"

"Someone who cares," she had a glint in her eyes, "You need a medical check, sir."

"I had one when I started working at Starfleet Command." Eric said, narrowing his eyes. "You can just get my medical records from there."

"No offence sir, but that was a while ago, you need them more regularly than that," she raised her eyebrows.

"Once a year." He said, looking at her. "Save for medical emergencies of course."

"I'm glad you agree, now please come to the medical bay," she grinned.

"Yes, I agree in principle, but my last medical was three months ago." He said, folding his arms across his chest. "I'm unlikely to have contracted the Andorian Plague in that time."

"I have been ordered to give you a medical, sir," she frowned, "regardless of whether or not you agree to it, I will be giving you a medical check up."

"And who issued those orders?" Eric asked, firmly.

"Commander Th'Zarath," the doctor said simply.

"You do realize that a Captain outranks a Commander, right? You did pay attention to that bit in the Academy, I hope." Eric smirked, wondering at what point she'd loose her temper.

"Sir, I may just be a lieutenant commander, but I have no issue whatsoever in dragging you down to the medical bay for a two second check over," she said with a smile on her face, a chirpy tone, but with a hint of stern warning.

"Oh?" Eric couldn't help but chuckle now, as he was a good foot taller than the doctor, and he was being threatened by her. "Well, whilst I would love to see you put your words into practice - I'm not quite ready to have you court-martialled for manhandling a superior officer. I will, on this occasion, acquiesce to your request."

"Thank you muchly, because I could not carry a dead weight right now, it;s coming up to the end of my shift," she grinned and gestured toward the door.

Eric tried not to gawf at that, but decided that discretion was the better part of valor in this instance. He went to the turbolift, called out deck ten, rode it till it arrived at its destination, and then walked to sickbay. "Alright, you have me here, this had better be quick, I have a ship to prepare for launch."

"I can't tell you how much of a temptation it is to make this a slow process," she smirked and guided him to a biobed picking up a tricorder.

"You do, I walk out." He said, light-heartedly.

"I probably have a tranquilizer of some sort near by if you try it, sir," she grinned and did the medical check as normal, not giving him any special treatment.

Eric sighed, and decided since he was here, he might as well get this over with. It would get the annoying short-arse ginger woman off his back for a while anyway. One less thing for him to have to concern himself with. She could always relieve him of duty for failing to follow the directions of a medical officer - although she'd be on incredibly shaky ground with that - especially as the ship was in spitting distance of enough brass to form a marching band.

"Done, you're fine as far as I can tell, you're just weary," she smiles, "See wasn't so painless. And sir, I'm here to do my job, not be an ass, but I will be if it means getting my job done. You're free to go, and as for me, it's bed time." Scarlet stretched and placed the tricorder down.

"Yes, you young people need to go to bed early." He teased. "Keep up the good work, Doctor." Eric slid off the bed, and made his exit before that infernal ginger called him back. It was going to be a very interesting cruise...

Scarlet cursed under her breath in regards to the infuriating captain, she could sense that he was going to push her buttons that made her lose her temper too much.
