Ricky remained in his seat watching people leave this wasn't the first nor the last time he would be called to remain behind in a meeting. "Here are Lieutenant Lucas's orders to command a ship of her own. And her orders making me acting chief." Ricky said sliding a PaDD over to him.

Sighing, Karim took the padd and said "Thank you Lieutenant. Unfortunately she doesn't have the authority to make you acting chief. Before we keep going, did she mention why she didn't bring this information to me herself?"

"I know but I also knew that a senior officer from security should be at attendance at this meeting." Ricky said looking at the commander, "and as for why she didn't come to you personally I don't know something is going on with her and I just don't know what it is."

Sighing, he took a moment and said, "Computer, locate lieutenant Alyssa Lucas." After a moment, he heard "lieutenant Lucas is no longer aboard the Enterprise. She departed on the supply ship Nelson." Shaking his head, he looked to Alessandro and said "Can I be honest with you lieutenant?"

"Of course Commander," Ricky said hesitating and than adding, "I prefer all my superior officers to be honest with me allows me to do my job easier."

Nodding, he replied, "I'm hesitant to simply appoint you as the new chief to be honest. It's not that I don't think you'd learn a lot being in such a position, but from my experiences as both a woman and a man have taught me anything, I'm sensing that you're not exactly gnawing at the bit for the job."

"Permission to speak freely?" Ricky asked.

Nodding, he said "Always lieutenant. I don't like pretense."

"Truthfully no, it's not in my blood to ride a desk. My experience is field work and very very little paper work. And I would like to keep it that way." Ricky said finishing his little statement.

Thinking for a moment he said "I understand, and that's fine. Can I ask you a favor though?"

"Of course sir." Ricky said looking at the commander curious of what this favor would be.

Smirking a bit he said. "Can you keep an eye on things while I wait to be assigned a new chief? I don't want the crew to feel a bit lost without their leader."

Smiling, "Some of them won't like it but it'll be good for them." Ricky said knowing that he could be tough and not the easiest to get along with but he also knew how to train men and women to have them be the very best they can be.

Standing, he said "Thank you lieutenant. Let me know if you need any help. Dismissed."

Ricky just nodded standing and walking out of the conference room and heading back to security to get security into order. Truthfully he had no idea what the hell Aly was doing while she was the chief it was a damn mess.
