Matt had been staring at the ceiling hoping that each time his eyes closed he would be allowed to drift into a slumber. THis had been a recurring theme for the last six hours. He would pick up a PADD and read a few journals hoping that again this would help him towards slumber, normally Matt would find Diplomacy and Medical journals enough to make him restful, unless it was something that he was excited about, but the mix of excitement and worry were keeping him awake.

"Lights, full" he commanded.

He swung his legs out of the bunk and stretched, took a deep sign and started to pack his belongings into his carry bag. The Lister was less than an hour from its Rendezvous with the Enterprise and he knew little or nothing about what he was getting himself into, but he did trust James. Matt headed over to the replicator and ordered a coffee, this time, he drunk it steadily, slipped his bag over his shoulder then headed out of the door. during the he walk to the transporter room he took his time, thinking over and over again his compliance with the decision to return to Starfleet.

He had turned the idea of returning to Starfleet over and over in his mind and as much as the last time he was in space was a long time, he had seen people come and go, shared losses with the crew and the return to Earth had been very overdue, but space was where he belonged, where he felt at home and even though he had apprehension for returning, Matt knew it was the right thing for him to do.

He walked through the decks of the Lister clearing his mind and as he approached the door he took a deep breath, stepped onto the transported pad and was beamed over to the Enterprise. A young Ensign greeted him with a salute and Matt acknowledged him.

"The CO is on the bridge Sir, I have been asked to inform you to report in."

This was not Matt's first day at school and he knew what he needed to do, so he just politely nodded and made his way to the bridge to introduce himself to the Commanding Officer.
