Mission: Holy Cow

The baby still wasn't content enough to sleep, so once again, Adrianna found herself roaming the corridors with a baby in her arms. She watched him as he eyed everywhere in fascination, "You better not get used to these wanders, Matthias, or we will fall out."

Gordon had just finished his shift in Engineering, and was heading back to his quarters when he bumped into Lieutenant Commander Hunter. "Sorry ma'am, I didn't see you there. It's been a busy day! And who's this little fella?" He asked, seeing the baby in the XO's arms.

"I'm off, duty, you don't have to call me ma'am," she smiled, granted a little startled. She was right though, sporting some jeans and a vest, "This is Matthias." The woman looked down to her son, then back to the man, "Seems I've had a lot to do with engineering today."

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing though? I know I didn't break anything.....much!" Gordon said, his eyes darting around, making sure no one else was around.

"Not a bad thing, checked in with the Dame to introduce myself, then almost fell over a wire, but one of your boys saved me, and now bumping into you," she shrugged. The young boy stared at the man with a little smile.

"They're not my boys yet. I'm trying to hint to the Dame that I wouldn't mind a little bit more responsibility though, I've always wanted to be a Department Head!" Gordon said, smiling back at the small child.

"You're just an ensign," she smiled, "It takes time. Work at it and I'm sure something will come of it."

"I know, but still, it'll be good to have some responsibility, maybe one day I'll take your position!" Gordon said with a wink.

She chuckled, "Ah, well, in that case, I'll give you more responsibility now: get this champ off to sleep without using alcohol or drugs."

"Now unfortunately, that wouldn't work. I don't do kids, therefore that would only end badly for either myself or young Matthias here!" Gordon said, taking a small step away from the child.

"I'm joking anyway," Adrianna smiled, "Relax. Though, now I am intrigued about your kid hatred."

"No, not a hatred, just a bit uncomfortable, I'd be to worried about hurting them, they're very fragile after all!" Gordon smiled back at Adrianna.

"Wuss," she teased playfully before looking to Matthias again, "This one is probably going to grow up in the footsteps of mummy."

"How so?" Gordon asked, intrigued.

"I was in security before this job," she smiled, "I was head of security and now I'm acting XO."

"Alot of my friends chose Security, it was a second option for me if my Engineering career fell through! I still use it as a Secondary skill from time to time. I first went into spec ops, before I went to the Academy. I enjoyed it, but I preferred Engineering. I used to be their sniper and close combat, depending on the situation. So if you ever need someone for either job, you know where I am!" Gordon said.

"I'm sure we're fine, but I will keep it in mind if I ever want someone to join me for a work out," she nodded.

"Suit yourself." Gordon said, poking his tongue out at little Matthias.

The little boy shied away quickly, placing his head on Adrianna's collar bone, "I guess he won't be doing any front line work though." She chuckled.

"I'm sure he'll be fine once he grows a little!" Gordon said with a laugh.

"We can but hope," she smiled looking back to the man, "Sorry, I guess you know who I am, but I don't think we've been introduced."

"Gordon, Gordon Jones, Engineering Officer, my apologies!" Gordon said.

"Don't apologise," Adrianna giggled, "Well, you know who I am, even by face if you do not know my name. I'm Adrianna Hunter, acting Executive Officer."

"The big scary lady you mean?" Gordon said with a wink.

"I'm far from scary," the woman over dramatically, playfully gave an offended look, "Well, only if you peeve me off or get me in the ring."

"I'll try to remember that then." Gordon said.

"I'm dangerous when I need to be," she smiled and looked back to Matthias, "But I need to make sure that this one is safe come hell or high water."

"And I'm sure you'll be able to!" Gordon said with a smile.

"If you ever fancy sparring me, give me a call," she looked back to Gordon, "I think this one is ready for sleep now." The little boy's eyes were slowly shutting into slumber land.

"Looks like your ready for sleep as well...as am I!" Gordon said, stifling a yawn.

She smiled, "Good night Gordon." The woman repositioned Matthias gently so not to wake him and started to walk back to their quarters.

"Good night ma'am, sleep well!" Gordon shouted after the woman.
