Gordon was busy helping with the repairs of the shield generators, and also making modifications to make them more effective against most weaponry. It was a long, time consuming task, but it was worth it, if it was going to keep the population here safe.

"It's nice seeing a chief engineer actually getting his hands dirty instead of just giving the orders," Adrianna mentioned as she walked up the the man.

Gordon kept on working, without looking around, knowing that the Commander wasn't talking to him, but also unsure as to who she was talking to. "You must be mistaken Commander. There is no Chief Engineer around here, only me, an Engineer."

She just stared at him and waited for it to click in a moment.

Gordon thought for a moment. Their old Chief Engineer, the Dame, had been whisked away, with no word of what had happened. Could he possibly have been promoted. He stood up and turned to the Commander. "You got something to tell me Commander?" He said, raising an eyebrow.

"Only that you've just inherited an office and a title," she answered bluntly before finally flashing a smile of playfulness, "Congrats. Don't stop working hard though."

"Thank you Commander, I won't let you down!" Gordon said, smiling towards the Commander.

Hunter grinned, "So how are you doing on this project?"

"We're getting there slowly, it's been a very hard job, lots of the equipment was destroyed in the original attack, I don't know much about explosions, but I think they knew what they were targetting!" Gordon said, pointing out a few of the destroyed generators.

Adrianna took note, "Understood. Is there anything you feel you need from the ship that the engineers planet side that the first mother haven't provided, could do."

"Hardly any of the engineers down here have shielding experience, and more engineers would be amazing. I believe Ensign Peters has some shield experience!" Gordon said.

"The people here will learn quickly, they will need to understand how to maintain this after we have left, so do what you can. Contact the ship and your team if you need more people ok?" she replied looking around at the intrigued faces.

"I'll remember that Commander, thank you!" Gordon said.

"Always about the bigger picture in your industry Mr Jones," Hunter smiled.

"I'll do my best to teach them!" Gordon said, tinkering with one of the circuit relays.

"Please do, it would benefit them greatly," Adrianna looked around, "I'm going to find the first mother."

"I believe she headed towards the medical area, to check up on the wounded." Gordon said, turning around to get back to work on the shields.

"I've just come from there," she sighed, "I'll head back. Thank you."

"No problem. See you soon Commander!" Gordon shouted after Hunter.
