Adrianna Hunter made her way to see the leader planet side once she had made sure the rest of her crew were where they were supposed to be and understood their orders. She found the First Mother in amongst her people. The woman smiled at the bovine like chief to make herself known, as she didn't want to disrupt anything.

Barula saw a female outside of her group of advisers. Excusing herself from the group, she slowly approached the woman and said "Greetings, I am First Mother Barula, how can I help you?"

"My name is Lieutenant Commander Adrianna Hunter, I am the acting executive officer on board the USS Enterprise. I believe you are expecting me," the woman replied in a friendly tone.

Smiling slightly, Barula replied "Of course, forgive me Lieutenant Commander. As I'm sure you can appreciate, I've been slightly distracted lately. I am First Mother Barula, please follow me." Leading her into a private alcove off the main room, she gestured for her to take a seat on a low floor cushion, then smoothing her robes, sat on a nearby one herself.

The acting XO lowered herself somewhat stiffly and smiled, "I understand that this is a difficult time for you, and I want to be as helpful as I can, to you personally as well as to your people as a whole."

Barula nodded and replied "If you don't mind me saying so, I have a sense that you and your Commander Dhej are caring people. We are truly blessed by the Creator for your assistance." Pausing, she said "May I ask a personal question of you?"

"Anything," she replied openly, with a warm smile.

Quietly, Barula said "I'm not sure why, but I feel that I can trust you. You are a mother correct? Have you ever had an issue with your child that ended up getting out of control?"

The woman blinked a moment, thinking of how to word it, "I have a son, his name is Matthias. His father wasn't the nicest of men."

Sighing, she replied "I'm sorry, I've upset you Lieutenant Commander. I just feel I need to tell you something that may affect the way you assist us with our troubles."

"No you haven't, don't worry," Adrian's answer was honest. It didn't upset her, it didn't bring up dark memories. Fact was fact, "I'm all ears, and will help how I can."

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, Barula fidgeted with the hem of her robe with a hoof. After a moment she said "Before I begin, how much do your people know about the rebels?"

"Only what our initial research and scans show, plus some psychological evaluations and what we've witnessed," she replied, "But if you know anything, then we need to know because we have our own people to protect."

"I understand" Barula replied "What I am about to tell you is upsetting, but needs to remain confidential between us and your Commander Dhej." Pausing, she said "The rebels are mostly bulls who have rejected the peaceful life we have struggled to cultivate on our planet. Their leader is ... my son."

That caught Hunter's attention, "I'm sorry, what?" She took a moment to process that, "May I ask you a question that you don't have to answer now, or ever, but I need you to think about."

Nodding, she replied quietly "Of course."

"Starfleet always prefers to end things peacefully, but if push comes to shove they will do anything to help you. I would like to know that if something were to happen, you will allow us to do what we can and attempt to put your relationship with their leader a side," she stopped herself, "As a mother, but only of a little one, I cannot imagine what you are going through, or what you may go through, but I need you to know that we are going to try and end things peacefully."

Shaking her head slightly in affirmation, Barula replied "I will respect whatever actions you have to do to stop their activities. He made the decision to abandon his family, and he must live with that choice. Thank you for understanding how difficult it was for me to disclose that information to you."

Hunter grimaced a little and painfully asked, "How would you grieve if your son was killed?"

With a shudder, Barula tried to speak, but her long face crumpled, and she hid her face in her hooves.
