After finishing his meeting with Admiral Hark, Karim officially acknowledged the promotions, and entered his orders into the ship's log. He then quickly crossed to his personal replicator, and after entering his command codes, replicated a few items. Crossing back to his desk he tapped his combadge and said "Dhej to Lieutenant Commander Hunter. Please report to the ready room immediately."

Adrianna swung on her uniform jacket and kissed her son'n forehead as a goodbye. A few moments later, the woman arrived and was tying up her hair as she entered, "Captain."

Nodding, Karim remained seated, and with a serious tone said "Thank you for coming so quickly. Please We need to discuss a conversation I just had with Admiral Hark."

The woman sat in the chair opposite, "No problem. Is everything alright?"

Sighing, Karim said "Yes and no. I shared the Nirua's request for Federation aid, and the admiral said he'd advocate for it with the Federation Council. The Nirua will be contacted once the Council has made its decision." Pausing, he added "However, the admiral did discuss some rather interesting information with me."

"Go ahead," she shifted a little in the seat trying to find a comfortable position.

Fighting the smile that wanted to show on his face, he said gravely "The admiral had some feedback on how we have performed in our duties as the acting command team. He advised he was very pleased with how we've progressed, and has made our positions permanent."

"Not going to lie, that's kind of a relief," she let out a sigh, "I need something permanent."

Unable to hide his smile any longer, he reached into the drawer beside him and pulled out two boxes. Opening one, he removed the solid pip and as he added it to his collar, he said "The admiral also officially promoted myself to the rank of Captain effective immediately." Pausing, he said "Please stand Ms. Hunter."

The woman rose from her chair, "Wish I'd made myself look a bit more presentable now."

Standing, and walking around the desk with the other box in his hand. Reaching up to her collar, he said "Adrianna Hunter. As per orders from Admiral Alexander Hark, you are hereby promoted to the rank of full Commander, with all rights and responsibilities thereto." Replacing the hollow pip with a solid one, he handed her the small box, then extended his hand "Congratulations Commander."

"Thank you," she replied honestly, and looked to the ceiling, "I swear I was never this much of a girl before I had Matthias."

Smiling, he said "It's ok to be a bit emotional Adrian. I was shocked myself when he shared the news with me." Pausing, he said "We've also been ordered to report to Cold Station Theta for repairs, restocking and a brief shoreleave. Please recall any crew on the planet and set a course for the station."

"Let's warp into the sunset, huh?" she smiled. The excitement of being in Starfleet came from the headings and the missions. No two days were ever the same, and if they were, you weren't in Starfleet. To the ends of the universes, lest these explorers travel and with only adrenalin and the desire to learn in their hearts.

Nodding, he said "Something like that. Also, I've decided to ask Tierney Rinehart to serve as Second Officer in addition to her normal duties." Pausing, he said "Was there anything else we need to discuss before you begin preparing for our departure?"

"Uhh," she thought it over, "I don't really think so, sir."

Smiling, he replied "Ok. Thank you Commander. Please take command of the bridge and begin preparations. I will contact Rinehart and share the news of my decision. I will see you soon."

"Thank you, sir. We should also do dinner again sometime."

Nodding, he said "Anytime, though this time, I'll cook." After she left, he began preparing for his next meeting.
