JDL | Cmdr Hunter & Ens Jones | Repairs (Backlog)

Posted on 241504.03 @ 9:23pm by Ensign Gordon Jones

Mission: Holy Cow
Location: Engineering

Gordon was in Engineering, working on the repairs from the battle. There had been lots to do, but the list was slowly decreasing. Gordon was currently doing a calibration of the EPC Conduit net, that had been causing problems throughout the ship for a while.

The acting executive office found the COE and wandered in, "I've read the files, but on a scale of 1 to this ship is going to blow up any second, how bad is this in your opinion."

Gordon turned to see the XO walking in. "I'd say currently we're at a 3, maybe 4, all the major damage is sorted, it's just the little things like EPS conduits, the bridges viewscreen, things like that." Gordon said, pointing out a few of the things left to do.

"When do you reckon it will be done by and the ship will be restored to the way it can be worked with properly," she asked. She knew that all the engineers were working overtime, but she wanted some sort of figure to work around. Medical were struggling, so she needed to know who else was out of the main personnel who were needed to maintain the ship and crew.

"At least another week, some of my guys are still in sickbay waiting to be patched up, so I'm short on staff as well. 2 weeks at most!" Gordon said, continuing to work on the conduits.

"See, this is where the problem lies," Adrian sighed, "We have a bigger problem, that takes a priority."

"What's the problem?" Gordon asked.

"Medical is now on rations, to the point where if something goes wrong, between now and when we can get somewhere to restock on supplies for them, we are going to be in trouble to the point of more than just a few people off with a bump. I'm on about an increase in the use of a morgue. Am I clear?" she asked, but it was more rhetorical as finding the right words wasn't her strong suit. It was more for her own benefit that she asked, she knew it could have been a little unclear, "I need this ship to a standard where we can just go. For the sake of the crew as a whole."

"And I'm doing the best I can! If you have any ideas on how we can go faster without hurting ourselves then please do tell me!" Gordon snapped, tired from all the overtime him and his team were putting in.

"Excuse me?" Adrian stared at the man with an emotionless look across her face.

"No offence Commander, but you don't know what it's been like down here! We haven't stopped since the battle started, I haven't slept in 3 damned days, and you come down here and ask us to work faster, and I am telling you, we can't do it!" he answered not looking round.

"Ensign," Adrian raised her voice and waited for him to look at her.

Gordon looked round, putting down what he was doing.

"I advise you to watch your tone," the woman paused and returned to her normal voice, "I never asked you to work faster. Nor did I ever under appreciate the work that this sector has been doing. I am merely letting you know that there is going to be an increase in usage of replicators and what not in medical. It's a heads up. Perspective and intelligence."

"Ok, look, sorry Commander, as I said, i'm over tired, replicators won't be a problem, the EPS grid is just about fixed now. Anything inparticular you'd like me to look at next?" He asked.

The woman nodded, accepting the apology, "Keep an eye on medical and everything they may need. A-side from that, let me know ASAP as to when you feel we can get going to stock up."

"We can get going now, warp engines and impulse engines are fine, just let us know if anything doesn't look right, and vice versa." Gordon said.

"Good," the woman replied. Now all that was left was to talk to the captain about all of this. "I'll leave you to it. Get some rest too."

"I'll try!" Gordon replied, with a nod, closing up the panel he'd been working on, and packing his things up into his toolkit.
