Mission: Agua Mala

Karim walked out of the ready room, padd in hand and crossed to the command chair. Nodding to Hunter, he took a seat. Clearing his throat, he said "Are all departments showing readiness to depart Commander?"
"Would we have it any other way?" she asked in response happy to finally be heading out.
Smiling, he glanced at the padd and entered a few commands into his control panel. "I've forwarded our new coordinates to the helm. Has the station cleared us to depart?"
"That they have," she showed him her PaDD with everyone cleared.
Nodding, he said "Ok then." Turning his attention to the helm he said "Helm, set course to the coordinates I have sent to your console. Once we clear the station, engage Warp 6." Looking back to Hunter, he said "Our new mission is somewhat ... unique Commander. We apparently have been invited, along with the Vindicator, to a birthday party."
"A birthday party?" she questioned, "It hardly sounds like a Starfleet priority, sir. Please explain."
Shaking his head, he replied "Commodore Ivanova, the Vindicator's commanding officer, advised that both ships have been invited to Princess Xue's planet, which apparently is the centre of the Ascendancy. We've been invited to a birthday party, which is the first step in opening diplomatic relations with her people."
"I haven't worn a ball gown since my wedding," she chuckled, "And that was before Matthias was born."
Smiling, he said "We won't be wearing ball gowns or tuxedoes. We will be wearing dress uniforms unfortunately. I can't say I'm overly excited about squeezing into one of those."
"I prefer that to a gown," she chuckled, "Trust me. It is a little more forgiving than a ball gown, when it comes to baby weight I still have and stuff."
Chuckling as well, he replied "I remember that, from the times when Dhej had female hosts." Catching his breath, he added "I've been told the Commodore will take the lead on the mission, but I want everyone prepared for the unknown. I know this is supposed to be a meeting based on potential friendship, but you know things don't always work out that way."
"Always prepare for the worst," she sighed, "I'm not sure if the princess is an exact representation of her kind. For her people's sake, I hope not."
Nodding, he said "I hope not either. Once we arrive at the Badlands, we will meet up with Vindicator for the journey through. Please ensure the ship is ready for the ... unique nature of that area of space. I've heard too many stories of ships not being ready, and the headaches their crews have had to deal with."
"I have already sent a message to every head of department a few moments ago. I've told them to deal with extra drills and so on as we don't know what we are walking into. I will check up on everything with in 24 hours."
"Thank you Commander. It's nice to have someone who thinks about things before I do." he replied, then added "Now we wait, and try to enjoy the journey."
"It gives us time for you to show myself and Matthias that park you found on the holodeck programme list," she teased a little.
"I look forward to that. Once we are at warp, we'll go there and have a picnic." he replied.
"That sounds like a plan, sir," she smiled, "Matthias seems to be fond of you."
"And I him" he replied. Sitting back in his chair, he added "Let's hope this mission is a less ...complicated as our last one."
"Hell, I will settle for a complex mission as long as it's relatively safe," she chuckled.
