Karim smiled as he walked into the empty holodeck. He had a large basket and blanket in hand. Clearing his throat he said "Computer, load program Dhej 34." Moments later he was surrounded by one of his favourite parks from the Trill Homeworld. Tapping his combadge he said "Dhej to Hunter, please join me in Holodeck 3."

Adrianna knew what this was about and already had Matthias ready so soon arrived. He was happy enough.

After they were settled on the blanket, and Mathias was busing himself with a toy, Karim said "I know we're here to relax Adrian, but I need to bring up some ships' business before we do so." Sighing, he added "As expected, we had some crew rotation during our stopover at the station. I received an update on which officers we unfortunately lost. Lieutenant Zhyalla sh'Thrass, Ensign Jon Peters, Ensign Stahma ch'Shavah and Doctor Jackson Avery all have been reassigned to other ships. Also, Lieutenant Nanee Quoicho has resigned her commission, retired from Starfleet and is returning to the Trill Homeworld." Pausing, he added "So that leaves us with a few key openings in our senior staff. I've put in a request with Command for a new Chief Helm Officer, and Chief Medical Officer."

"Ouch," was the only word she could muster for a moment. Looking to her son then back to Karim she sighed, "When will we know?"

Sighing, Karim replied "I'm not sure. Command said they would send us replacements soon, but it could be some time. I'm considering taking a page from our history, and having the EMH take over in Sickbay until we get a permanent CMO. Does that sound ok? I know they've done some significant upgrades since the days of Voyager's EMH."

"I think we should give it a time limit," the woman replied, as she played with Matthias a little, "If we have no one by a certain time, then we should use the EMH as a last resort."

Nodding, he replied "I wasn't suggesting using the EMH as a permanent solution. I was thinking more of a stopgap measure until we get assigned a new CMO." Pausing, he added with a smile "Enough about work though. I'm curious about something you said after the ritual back on the station. You said that the experience hosting Samir gave you a lot to think about."

"Yes," she smiled, "I needed to contact my father."

Curious, he picked up a snack from the plate in front of him, and after taking a bite said "Was it a positive conversation?"

"I suppose it depends what you consider positive," she replied with a slight shrug, "my family comes from a line of people set up through match makers. I think I'm ready now. I have Matthias, so I know it will be difficult to find someone, so why not have them found for me?"

Smiling, he replied "Well I wish you the best of luck. Maybe I'll be lucky and eventually find someone as good as Jon was to me."

"Life will unravel itself eventually. I know that I need a man in my life for Matthias' sake. I want to be able to share his moments with someone. Like his first word and stuff."

Nodding, Karim replied "If you ever need help with him, I'm here. I have been both a mom and a dad a few times, so I'm happy to help. I hope you know that."

"I know," she smiled gratefully, "I think it would be different with an actual man at my side though. Someone who is there for myself as well as Matthias."

"I know what you meant, I was just offering my help." he replied and added "I know there is someone out there for you, and he will love you and Matthias." Pausing, he added with a smirk "Trust me, I know these things."

"Aww, why? You suddenly wanting a change?" she chuckled and teased back.

Rolling his eyes, he said "Not so much. No offense. I just know that the universe will bring you someone when you least expect it." Pausing, he said "Should we eat this picnic before it warms up too much? I wouldn't want it to go bad because we talked too much."

She chuckled and started eating and feeding Matthias too, "You'll find someone too you know."

Smiling as he filled his plate with food, he said "I hope so. I'll keep you updated."
