Mission: Agua Mala
Location: USS Enterprise, Undiscovered Space, Alpha Quad.
Timeline: 1 month after destruction of USS Vindicator

=*=Lieutnant Nolan's Quarters, Deck 13=*=

Lieutenant Jayne Nolan lay fast asleep in his bed. The room was dark, except a faint amount of light coming from the stars streaming past the windows. The Enterprise had been moving a lot lately, after the business sounding the destruction of the Vindicator and the oddities of Apsha, the ship was given orders to continue its original mission: 'seeking out new life and new civilizations.' Boring is what most called it, enjoyable is what Jayne called it. They had been on the move nearly a month since all that unpleasantness, and saw nothing of true merit, except for one mildly interesting Class T Gas Giant nearly three weeks ago.

The ship had fallen into the typical, almost mundane existence aboard a star ship. No bar brawls in Ten-Forward. No holodeck programs achieving self awareness and trying to kill everyone on board. No warp core breaches. Not even so much as a paper cut. Life had become typical, and after the intensity of their last mission, the general consensus was that it was 'okay'. All things considered, everyone had settled in under their new Captain and Executive Officer.

Jayne rolled over as he was deep in a silly dream about a ship called 'The Lightning Bug', and he found a cunning cap upon his head when the computer awoke him with a light ping of an alarm clock. He sat up slowly. "Computer, lights, 60%" and upon command they came up. He turned in his bed and brought his feet to the floor and stood up arching his back and yawning briefly. "Computer, set a five min timer and replicate 2 scrambled eggs, toast lightly buttered, bacon crispy and a cup of black coffee please," said Jayne as he crossed the room taking his duty uniform out of a closet. "Command confirmed," replied the computer. Taking his uniform in hand he headed towards the bathroom to shower.

As the 'steam' billowed out of the shower, raining warm 'water' on his back he heard his breakfast get made. He stepped out, dried off and dawned his black and blue uniform. He pulled a PaDD out of his shoulder bag and put it at the table before collecting his breakfast. He figured he would read the final report from the Class T Gas Giant they had seen a few weeks ago. It didn't have much to do with the botanical specimens he had collected back on Apsha and had been examining since their departure, but he always found a little light reading at breakfast stimulating.

Finishing his breakfast he placed his plates on the replicator and in the blink of an eye they were gone. "Coffee, Black, Travel Mug." And in another blink the mug was there, steaming and piping hot. Jayne slung his fine leather messenger bag, picked up his coffee and headed out into the corridor. He made his way around a few corners, nodding to comrades as he passed issuing 'good morning's where appropriate. He slipped into Botany Lab 2 and noticed that it was empty, as usual, except for large number of odd looking plants in containment pods.

Jayne walked up to his lab station, logged on and dawned his white lab coat. He looked at his wrist crono (0759 as it changed to 0800) and smiled to himself. Perhaps mundane wasn't so bad?
