Valok let out a sigh when he finished unpacking the last of his clothes. He hadn't been on board that long, having just arrived hours before the ship had been set to depart. The Horatio had been delayed due to some system malfunction, and he had been very rushed to beam aboard. Hating being late, the experience threated to shake him. He had taken a few deep breaths, and used his new position as Chief Science Officer as a tool to speed up the process. The technician at the transporter pad was hesitant to let him aboard, since he hadn't officially met with any of the command officers yet. Shoving the padd with his transfer orders towards the man, and calmly informing him of is position, had spurred the young man into action.

Now here he was, on the Enterprise, one of the most famous ships in the fleet. Or at least, the history of ships named as such was famous. He hadn't had a lot of time to brush up on the history of the ship after he'd received his transfer orders. Smiling now, he stuffed his duffle bag in the closet, and checking that his uniform was in order, made his way out of his quarters and on to the turbolift.

Moments later he walked into what was now going to be his office. He'd originally been a bit hesitant to accept the transfer, regardless of the fact that Captain Campbell had referred him. He'd spoken to her about her impulsive actions of submitting his name for the position, and she'd simply replied that she was interested in helping him with his future. He had to admit, the idea of essentially being in command of an entire department and deck of the ship was exciting. But, it was also scary. He had been a junior officer on the Horatio, and now being in charge of a lot of officers of different specialities was ... a challenge.

Feeling himself experience a slight twinge of panic, he closed his eyes as he sat behind his new desk. Calming his mind, he called upon his mixed heritage, and focused on the Vulcan side of himself. It was only logical that Campbell had referred him for the position, it was a necessary step in his development as an officer. Also, it would allow him to be able to further integrate his specialities as a cultural anthropologist and xenobioligist. Being able to work with other officers in his new position would also allow him to collaborate on interesting experiments, which would only lead to a deeper understanding of the universe.

Opening his eyes, he focused on the computer interface in front of him. Clearing his throat, he said "Computer, recognize Larel, Valok, Lieutenant Junior Grade Authorization Beta 465." A moment later he heard "Authorization codes recognized. Access granted." Entering a few commands he said "Transfer personal files from database." Moments later the transfer was complete. He was pleased that he'd been able to send his files ahead of him. His years of research were a big part of him, and it would've been unfortunate to not be able to draw on them.

After confirming all the files had been downloaded, he tapped his combadge and said "Larel to Commander th'Zarath . I have come aboard and am currently I my office reviewing the ships logs. I would like to officially report for duty with you, at your earliest convenience. Larel out." Returning his focus to the massive amount of reports he needed to read, he waited for the commander to reply.
