Joint Duty Log, Cmdr Scarlet Rogers and Ensign Thee Rhys

Posted on 241404.23 @ 1:43pm by Lieutenant Scarlet Rogers MD & Ensign Thee Rhys

Mission: Where no man has gone before.

Though his first few hours aboard the Enterprise had been new and exciting, Ensign Thee Rhys now found himself facing a much more unpleasant proposition: The introductory physical. Numerous unpleasant thoughts filled his mind, not the least of which was the possibility that the CMO and her staff were not equipped to treat a member of his species. But regulations were regulations, and he found himself entering sickbay trying to avoid the surprised stares of the human nurses.

The CMO heard a bit of a stir outside her office and went to go investigate. On seeing what the kerfuffle was about, she smiled. "Ensign Rhys I take it?" The young woman seemed un-phased by the person in-front of her with his back to her.

Rhys turned his head at the sound of the woman's voice, orienting his neck without moving his body in a very dinosaur-like fashion. "Ah, Commander Rogers...Ensign Rhys reporting as ordered, sir."

Scarlet frowned at her staff, "Make your way over to one of the bio beds and I will be there in a moment," she said going back to smiling at the Ensign.

"Of course, Commander." Rhys walked over to one of the bio-beds and lowered his head in consternation. It was a flat bed, oriented in a position that would make it impossible for the reptilian Pahkwathanh to lie comfortably.

"Doctor? Would it be possible to shift the bed into an orientation more conducive to my skeletal structure? Pahkwathanh are not usually prone to lying on our backs."

"Feel free to just sit on the edge or adjust it to suit you," Scarlet said before turning to the rest of her staff, "Show some professionalism, or I will make sure you will not be allowed to work on this ship again," she cautioned her staff. She walked over to Thee, "Ok, What can I do for you again?"

Rhys followed the doctor's advice and sat on the edge of the bed, orienting his tail to the side to ensure maximum comfort. "Thank you, doctor. I'm here for my initial physical, actually. I was a late addition to the crew roster, so I'm still trying to catch up on the initial formalities of boarding a starship."

"Ah right, well welcome," she said beginning her exam, "Sick of the looks yet?"

Rhys shifted uncomfortably. "Those I could do with out. I was briefed by other Pahkwathanh in the service to expect this sort of reaction, but its still a bit jarring. I'm sure things will lighten up a tad once the crew gets used to my presence."

"People keep staring at me too," she smiled, "I think we should just come to the conclusion that they are intimidated by our greatness."

Rhys couldn't help but hiss in laughter. "That's what I think as well. It's hard being glorious, is it not?" he asked whimsically.

"Exactly," she laughed, "Well, my scans are telling me you're fine, unless there's something you're not telling me."

Rhys shook his head. "Nothing out of the ordinary, Doctor. Perhaps getting a little tired of eating synthetic meat, but other than that, I feel quite well." The synthetic meat had been bothering him, as Pahkwathanh enjoyed their meat raw and freshly killed, if possible.

"I miss real alcohol too, don't worry," she smirked. It was sadly true.

"How unfortunate! The next time I'm on leave, I'll be sure to bring you a bottle of Pahkwa Brandy. There is nothing like it in the galaxy, I assure you."

"I'll hold you to that," she smiled with a cheeky glint in her eye, "If you ever need to come back here, ask for me personally, and if I'm here, I will sort out whatever issue you have, medically, since my staff have the maturity of a 3 year old human. Just until I can get some bed-side manner training enforced."
