Karim sighed as he put yet another padd down on the side of the desk. He'd been reading through so many padds, ship's status reports, specs, crew evaluations, and frankly he was exhausted. Standing, he stretched, and felt his joints pop. Crossing to the replicator, he said "Jasmine tea, warm, double sweet." Moments later a tall mug appeared, and after picking it up, he took a tentative sip. Tasting the tea, he smiled and said to himself "That's exactly what I needed." It had been a long day, having brought up all the relevant reports and files he knew he had to review, and also having replicated a new uniform. He knew it would take time for him to get used to seeing himself in command red.

Walking over to a nearby small window, he looked out at the space before him. Ever since joining with Dhej he'd found himself taking moments to stare out viewports and let his mind wander. It was different now though, since his mind was filled with reports. He'd been especially interested to hear the former Chief Science Officer, a Lt. Valok Larel, had left the ship before everything had happened. Apparently he'd requested an extended leave of absence to deal with a crisis at home. The part of him that had memories of being a mother felt sorry for him, and hoped he would be ok. Turning away from the window, he continued to sip his tea and thought about the reality the ship was now in.

The ship was now in the middle of virtual nowhere, and its crew had to deal with a new command team. Also, from what he could gather, they were pretty much on their own, without Starfleet to help them. Sipping another drink of his tea, he hoped everything would work out ok. He also hoped he would be able to adjust to his new position quickly. He knew that Captain Rhodes had understood it would be a challenge, as he admitted he would have challenges adjusting to his new reality as well. Shaking his head, he moved back to the desk, knowing he had a lot more padds to review, and that eventually he'd need to sleep. As he sat down he said "Computer, please play some soft Trill classical music." Soon a soft piano and lute concerto filled the office, and he smiled. The music would help him relax, and hopefully he would be able to survive the mountain of padds beside him. Taking another sip of his tea, he picked up the next padd, and began reading.
