DL || Cmdr th'Zarath & Dr Rogers, XO & CMO || "Quite an impressive view..."

Posted on 241402.18 @ 12:19pm by Lieutenant Thelin th'Zarath & Lieutenant Scarlet Rogers MD

Mission: Where no man has gone before.
Location: McKinley Shipyards
Timeline: Shortly before boarding.

=/\= Visitors Mess, McKinley Shipyards =/\=

Striding into the mess, Thelin was surprised at how large and spacious it was, it also looked out into the yards themselves, currently housing the ship he was about to board as First Officer, the mighty USS Enterprise F, to be chose to crew such a fine name was an honour in itself, but to be one of its Command Staff?

Moving towards the replicator, he found himself eying up a table close to the window, it was currently empty and one of the seats faced overlooking his new ship, he retrieved his drink on autopilot and made his way over, taking his chosen seat and casting his gaze over the Odyssey Class vessel.

"Sir?" a young ginger woman in her medic uniform smiled and offered her hand, "I'm Lieutenant Commander Scarlet Rogers."

"Ah yes, Doctor Rogers, a name I remember from the crew roster I was handed when I arrived," Thelin replied, his antennae narrowing towards the young woman, "Please, sit," he requested with a gesture towards one of the other seats at the table, "Commander Thelin th'Zarath, it's nice to meet you."

"Thank you, sir," She shook his hand as she sat down opposite, "Might, I say that being a part of this crew is very last minute for me, but I will prepare as soon as I possible can."

"Indeed, your name was added just before I arrived." the Andorian replied with a smile and a nod, "You will find that we all need some time to adjust, this is a completely new class of ship."

"Indeed it is, I am not really knowledgeable about ships as such. I just stick to my profession," she chuckled a little.

"Well, we shall try to keep you as busy as possible," Thelin joked as he took a sip of his drink, placing the mug down on the table as he slid a padd out of his jacket, "Have you had a chance to look over the specifications of the Medical Department yet?"

"Yes, the journey here was quite a long one," she sighed, "It seems so different but so similar to the USS Pendragon."

"I'm not familiar with the Pendragon, but that is because I've been on Ferenginar for quite some time," the Andorian replied, "I have to admit, getting back into Starship service is quite a relief after dealing with those backstabbing merchants."

"No matter where you are, someone will always stab you in the back," Scarlet looked away as memories came back, before returning her gaze to the man smiling, "But we can but hope that things get better."

Thelin nodded with a slight sip of his drink, "Indeed, I'm sure they will, we've got a whole new mission ahead of us on a completely new ship."

"I haven't read too much into it as yet," she nodded.

"Neither have I," Thelin replied with a slight chuckle, "Although, being the newest ship in the fleet, you'll find that you've got a very advanced medical facility for you to play with, including the latest in holographic support staff."

"I noticed," the doctor chuckled, "I'm only young, but I already feel like I'm a part of an older generation."

"Don't worry, they even have holographic replacements for us too, Emergency Command Holograms," Thelin replied with another nod, "I'm surprised they don't have more as standard."

"Yeah, the thought that I will one day be replaced by a mere computer program, kind of makes me sick. No computer generated thing can ever replace the feel or experience of a physical being, if you know what I mean," Scarlet struggled to explain herself.

"I do, I don't like the idea of leaving the ship in the command of a program either." Thelin replied with a slight smile, "Nothing beats a flesh and blood being at the controls."

"Imagine if there was a glitch or something," she giggled.

"There quite often is, although occasionally this can lead to some rather interesting developments in the field, with the potential for sentience too..." the Andorian replied, referencing the events on Voyager that led to their holographic Doctor gaining sentience.

"I don't think I've heard about that," Scarlet looked up at a person walking past, whom she recognised and knew she needed to talk to, "Sir, if you'd excuse me. I'll be seeing you around." She smiled and stood up.

"Of course," Thelin replied with a curt nod and a smile, "You still need to report in... officially that is," he added quickly.

"I shall do that this afternoon, sir," she smiled, "Where do I have to do that again?"

"My office onboard the Enterprise, I assume it will be on Deck 2," the Andorian replied.

"I shall be there on request then, sir, at your earliest convenience," Scarlet wasn't sure how to talk to this man, she didn't know him as well as her prior captain. Everyone was new here.

"As long as you report in before we launch, it will be fine," Thelin replied with a slight smile, "I hope to see you around Doctor."

"Thank you, sir, I'll see you soon," Scarlet walked away.
