Mission: Suicidal Running Title

Acting Captain Mark Rhodes walked into Sickbay with 2 security officers flanking him. One of the nurses stepped forward to slow them down but she quickly backed up allowing them to pass. Mark led the way into the private room that Dr. Scarlet Rogers was resting in. One officer stayed outside, the other stepped in with Mark and stopped with his back to the door. Mark looked at the frail looking doctor and stepped forward. "Doctor Rogers, I have a few questions for you."

Scarlet's eyes flicked open and she looked to Mark, noticing the security officer. Attempting to sit up a little, but sadly failing in a twinge of pain she said, "I'd sit up, but I'm afraid everything hurts at the moment," she continued after taking a deep breath, catching her breath, "How can I help you?"

"I would like to know the events of Stardate 241407.29 on board Bimi Space Prime Trading Center," said Mark standing straight backed.

"The Lieutenant and I found a pharmacy and medical store in general, we purchased the items we needed. After which we explored some of the market for personal reasons. Our working relationship isn't the greatest and so I left her side for a moment, turned back and she wasn't there. I found Rinehart almost straight away and after that I don't remember," the doctor got very weak and breathless towards the end of her reply.

"You left her side?" questioned Mark. "Even after I ordered her to be at your side?"

"You ordered her to stay with me, you never ordered me to stay with her. It was an accident losing her in the long run, I know, but it could be Rinehart in a morgue. I guess mistakes amounted to a good thing in the end," she sighed.

"So you left someone that was ordered to stay by your side in a foreign port," said Mark aloud. "And if you want to split hairs about you not being ordered to stay with her, I wont have any of that nonsense. On to my next question, is it true you had words with the Chief of Security and threatened to deem her unfit for duty if she didn't 'keep he nose out of your business?'"

"Yes, sir," Scarlet fully admitted, "and yet no, sir. I threatened to call her unfit for duty if she touched me again. She forcefully attacked me and has been stalking me around the ship. She broke my nose for f-," Scarlet trailed off, "I did what any other member of senior staff would have done."

"So what reason did I give you for threatening myself with being deemed unfit for command?" asked Mark looking down to the officer.

"The need to co-operate," Scarlet raised an eyebrow looking to the captain somewhat sarcastically, "Sir, as much as I know we need this conversation, I need to rest. I am struggling to keep my eyes open and to focus right now."

"I understand that. In that case, until a time we can have a reasonable conversation and you are feeling better. I will be posting a guard at the door while you are in this room. When you are cleared you will be moved into the brig until further notice," said Mark firmly. "I am sorry for the inconvenience Scarlet, but there are one to many questions being brought up about your actions as of late."

"Woah," Scarlet voiced in protest, "What am I being accused of aside being a lousy person to the security officer?"

"No, speculations have been made that your intentions are questionable. I understand that you are recovering from a serious medical trauma, so until a time you are fit to answer some questions that have been raised you will be placed under a security detail. They have been ordered to stay with you, and if you need to split hairs, you are ordered to stay with them. When you are cleared you will be moved to the brig," said Mark bluntly.

"On what charges, Captain," Scarlet repeated herself a bit firmer. A shrill alarm started bleeping as Scarlet's vitals spiked.

"Suspensions of being a traitor," said Mark. "As of right now this will not be reflected on your personnel file, nor the altercation with the Chief of Security. We will speak when you are feeling up to it. Right now, I am sure a nurse will come into here and chase me out."

"Is this some kind of sick joke?" Scarlet held out her hand to pause the nurses as they came running in.

"No it is not. I am sorry to be doing this Doctor," said Mark taking a step back as the nurses moved in.

"Sir, this has to be some kind of mistake, I would never jeopardise my job or this ship, and certainly not betray some of my only friends," Scarlet pleaded, pushing away nurses as they injected a new vile of strong sedatives and pain killers.

In the rush to sedate the doctor Mark stepped outside of the room. He stopped and spoke with the security officer outside of the door. "Keep an eye on her, I don't expect her to run, but you have your orders," said Mark. He then turned and exited Sickbay.
