Mission: Suicidal Running Title

=*= Brig =*=

To say that the night before had been anything but interesting was an understatement. But, it had at least been fun, and that was something that Aly had needed right now. A night to get away and, even though she still was technically on duty, relax.

Back in uniform now, and with a smile on her face she made her way though the Brig. Checking on the other two prisoners first she studied them as she spoke with the officers set to keep guard over them. After imputing a few things into the PaDD she carried, Aly headed on down the hall to where Scarlet was kept. A nod was given to the floating guard who happened to be sitting off to the side reading. "Go take a break." She said to Sally who quickly got up and headed out. With Sally gone, Alyssa looked at Scarlet though the force field.

Scarlet was laid on the floor staring up at the ceiling. She was tired but so wide awake at the same time. With so much on her mind she barely remembered to breathe. On hearing the guard stand up Scarlet looked over to see Lucas watching her, "It's not a freak show, you know," she muttered.

"Oh I know, I'm just trying to figure out why a doctor doesn't have the common sense to lay in a bed instead of on the floor when they are still supposed to be recovering." Aly said as she pulled up that empty chair, spun it around, and sat on it backwards.

"Because I was bed ridden and in a coma, the floor comes as an uncomfortable, comfort," Scarlet began, "Why is a security officer who knows I can't run or even throw a punch not sat inside here with me to talk to me?"

"I didn't figure you would want me in there with you. There is enough tension, I didn't feel like barging in if it was something you didn't want." Aly said with a slight shrug. "Same reason that you get a lot more lax in protacal, than say... the other two men that are currently in the brig."

"I have very little dignity left whilst in here," the young woman responded sitting up slowly, "What's an extra house guest?"

Getting up, she dropped the field and stepped in, not bothering to lift the field back up right now. "You have more privacy then you think." Aly said as she moved to sit on the edge of the bed by where Scarlet laid on the floor. A motion given to the monitor. The only time that thing has been on is when the Captain came and spoke to you. I didn't even bother to turn it on when I was informed you had a visitor."

"That's somewhat good to know," she smiled slightly, "take it you heard everything I said to him then. So what reason are you giving for holding me in here instead of letting me be under house arrest where I'll recover quicker?"

"If you would stop being stubborn and take care of yourself, you would likely heal just as quick if not quicker here than you would in your quarters. Unlike sickbay, you at least have peace and quietness here. And unlike your quarters, you are forced to rest in here." Alyssa said, not yet answering the other question the doctor had.

"I like the fact that you ignored the key part of what I just said," Scarlet smirked, "What's your reason?"

"Well lets see, threats to me, my Captain and others. Refusing to answer simple questions and then getting violent over it. Disregarding Captain's orders when it came to this mission. Those things right there are unbecoming of a starfleet officer." Aly said, stating the obvious.

"You stated once that you would never do anything to put the people on this ship in danger, yet you did. You want people to trust you, as they should be able to trust a doctor. Yet you give people every reason not to trust you."

"What is my reasoning. I want the people on my ship safe and will do what I have to in order to keep everyone safe. Until I know what side of the game you are playing on, I will be watching you."

"You are more than welcome to move in with me in my quarters, I only snuggle up if it's cold," Scarlet said bluntly but sarcastically.

Aly smirked a little with a roll of her eyes. "Anyways, when I brought you down here you said you were ready to talk about Thelin. Lets hear it." She said, getting down to business.

Scarlet smiled at little at the mention of Thelin, "We weren't ready to go public with our relationship until such a time as we had the Captain's backing. I was deeply hurt when one of my closest friends was very severely accused of treason. He had a message and plenty of proof from the likes of admirals, proving his innocence. Not many people would have believed it though, but they are genuine. The backlash that being in a relationship with Thelin would have been catastrophic. Even the fact we were still friends caused quite a lot of people to not trust me, and they were risking themselves by not coming to the medical bay at all when they were ill or injured. My staff were distracted also. After our encounter, I lost it, and demanded that Thelin got it sorted. He spoke to the captain, the captain knows Thelin is innocent and so on. We don't have an issue now. But if you had got that information out prior to the captain's approval, things could have taken a turn for the worst on this ship. As a doctor, I love my job and the people on this shift. I needed to make sure that I put my job before my relationship."

Alyssa got up and started pacing some as she listened. "First... this is all stuff you could have told me in the hall when I originally asked you. I'm Chief of security for petes sake. I know how to keep things silent. Secondly... People don't trust you.. or him. Even the Captain doesn't fully trust him. I told him you were planning on talking to me about Thelin now. He figures, like I did, that because you found yourself in trouble you were going to give Thelin up to try and save yourself."

She turned and looked at Scarlet a moment. "And all this supposed proof is where?"

"Take it up with the captain," Scarlet smiled softly, "he knows everything, or even ask Thelin to show you. I trust him. You need to too."

"From what he told me... it doesn't sound like the Captain knows enough. He told me to speak with you, to find out what it was you wanted to tell me about Thelin." Shaking her head she started out of the room. "You wanted help, but you don't want to give it. You want people to trust you... and him.. but you don't give people a reason too. The Captain included."

Stepping out of the area she turned fully. "I don't have times to play your games. I'll talk to you later, perhaps when you are more ready to talk." She said as a hand reached to reset the forcefield.

"What more do you want me to say," Scarlet raised her voice a little but not moving, "You have your security codes, you have access to intel and the captain, I don't." She sighed, "It's all I wanted to tell you. I needed to justify why I reacted the way that I did."

"I want you to tell me what you know about Thelin. I want to hear it... not read it. You are right, I can read the other things, just as the Captain can. But that doesn't answer all the questions we have. Documentation can be falsified" She sighed softly. "Trust me, when those guys down there start talking, and they bring Thelin up in their talks as part of it. It will look all the worse for you and him. I want to be assured that that won't happen."

"Call Malone. There are many records of our original captain and Thelin keeping the battle from us, in order to keep us safe and attempt to run. They didn't want to panic us. They were in constant talks with the likes of Malone to keep up to date with current situations and that is all I know," Scarlet sighed, "I swear."

"Of course... because right now we can't reach the Admiral to ask him questions that we should be able to get answers for on our own." Shaking her head a little. "Just because they where in talks, doesn't mean that one wasn't playing both sides of the fence." She sighed softly. "Rest well Doctor, I have work to do."

"If I could get hold of Captain Vokar, I am sure you could get hold of Malone, but the real question is, is can you trust that no message will be intercepted? There is a leak on board this ship or a stalker outside this ship," Scarlet stated thinking back to her conversation with Tierney a matter of moments before.

"That, Doctor... is the reason I won't attempt it. I won't risk putting this ship or the people on it in danger. We are in the middle of a war, and you still don't get it. You still think everyone should be able to trust everyone no matter what. For a Commander, you need to get some common sense." A push of a button brought up the forcefield as she turned and walked away and back towards her office.

"You know nothing about me," Scarlet screamed.
