Karim sighed as he finished the report on the encounter with the alien vessel. Now it was time to get to work. After the situation had been dealt with, he had read some unread messages. He was surprised at the news of Lieutenants Copper and Dame being reassigned suddenly, but knew he would have to move on with those officers who remained. Reviewing the officers that weren't currently working on the situation on the planet, he smiled and tapped his combadge "Dhej to Ensign Gargalen. Please report to my ready room immediately."

Ramirez was busy , preforming maintenance checks on the weapons stowed in the arms rooms he was located, he held a pulse rife in his hand while working the side plate off. He managed to remove the cover, and began removing the internal components , he had a small red crystal chip in his hand as he studied it. Using a sensor he checked it for wear and plugged it back into the housing assembly, before sliding them back int o rifle casing. Upon sealing the rifle once more he stood as he stepped to square with a target, he powered the rifle up , and fired a test shot, allowing the the rifle to complete a full cycle before he turned and powered it down he looked at where he was and then how many more lockers filed with pulse rifle alone he had left to do. He sighed and replaced the rifle in the locker and grabbed the next one went to turn to his seat as he heard the intercom voice he rose his right brow as he was unclear why the commander would need to see him. he turned back to the locker and slid the rifle back in and closed the door. Tapping his combadge he spoke, "aye sir, on my way," he made his way to the ready room as he. many minutes later having only ever been to the bridge once when he arrived to report for duty . He stood outside the door, pressing the door button, he stepped to the side and waited while standing at parade rest.
Looking up when he heard the chime, Karim replied "Come in." After the man entered, he said "Thank you for coming Ensign. Please take a seat. I'm sorry we haven't had a chance to meet before now. Have you been aboard long?"
Ramirez waited until he was summoned in to the ready room he looked around briefly getting a feel for the tempo and sense of urgency as to why the commander would seek him, who was only an ensign. He made his way to the desk as he let his eyes fall over the commander and where he motioned to sit he gave one more look around as he sat respectfully he inhaled before speaking, "Its okay Sir, been rather busy all around. the days began to run together for me there for a time off top of head I don't remember what date I actually came aboard." he scrunched up his nose as he thought back, shaking his head he sighed, " apologies sir i can't recall i know its been a few months at very least" he slid his hand into his jacket as he pulled out his tablet he quickly thumbed through the messages and found his orders for transfer from academy to the USS Enterprise, he slid the device over the desk, "bit longer than a few months sir." he righted his jacket as to appear to care for standards in the uniform he wore. He allowed his hands to rest now as he waited.
Nodding, Karim gestured for him to take a seat. After the man was seated, he said "I wanted to meet with you to discuss your position aboard the ship. I see you are a security officer, but would you have any interest in a joint position with tactical?"
A brief confused look passed over his face he spoke, "I thought Tactical and Security were already one department" he shrugged, "Of course, I would be interested sir."
Smiling, Karim replied "They were actually previously two different departments. I've decided to combine them. By accepting the joint position, I will need you to complete some upgrading of tactical procedures. I will also need you to begin studying for the bridge officer's training course."
Ramirez nodded as he asked, "Might I ask, what do you mean you need me to upgrade the tactical procedures?" he was fine learning the tactical side of starship operations. however what the commander seemed to want seemed a bit over the ensign's head like a few ranks above it. "I shall study for the course sir"
Sighing, he replied "Forgive me Ensign, I misspoke. I didn't want you to upgrade the tactical procedures, I meant that I wanted you to do some upgrades to your training my becoming familiar with the tactical systems and procedures."
Ramirez nodded, "That makes sense sir." he leaned forward grabbing his padd seeing the commander didn't need it. shifting in the chair, he asked, "is there any Tactical personnel, that can help me learn and possibly study for the bridge officer course?"
Nodding, he replied "Yes, Arrain tr'Verelan, our Chief Security and Tactical Officer will be your direct supervisor. I would suggest meeting with him to begin your training. Do you have any further questions before I let you get to work?"
Ramirez shook his head, as he went to stand, "No questions Sir, If there is nothing else I have some maintenance I was doing I will contact Arrain." he stood at attention waiting to be dismissed.
Smiling, he said "You are dismissed Ensign. Thanks for your time."
