Kerenal/Hunter first meeting

Posted on 241504.03 @ 5:46pm by Lieutenant Kerenal

Mission: Holy Cow
Location: USS Enterprise, XO's Office

Having made himself comfortable in the guest quarters and made himself known to the barman in the lounge, Kerenal had even found time to busy himself amongst the sparse library that the huge ship held, something he intended to rectify if they reactivated his commission and stationed him on the Enterprise, he'd sent a message up to the First Officer's office and asked for a meeting as soon as she was free, from what he had access to he'd managed to find out a name and a rank but very little else.

Adrianna Hunter had got the message and had sent a reply and asked where to meet him and when. It wasn't normally like her, normally she would say place and time but with having a child it made things a little more difficult to just plan something.

And so it was that the El-Aurian found himself stepping through deck two and towards the doors of her office, Kerenal was never normally a man to feel nervous, for many reasons, and now was no different, he was just a former Starfleet Officer hoping to make the enterprise his home, if they would have him, the chime on her door found his hand easilly enough and rang out.

"Enter," the British woman called out as she ended a video call, "Come on in Lieutenant, take a seat."

Stepping in through the door, Kerenal instantly noted the accent and a smile came to his lips as he thought back to his last wife and their daughter, fiery redheads both of them and both possessed of strong Northern English accents, he'd been out of touch with his daughter for a long time and needed to check up on her again, the last thing he knew of her was that she was in Starfleet and doing well for herself, "Commander Hunter, It's a pleasure." he stated as he moved to the seat opposite the woman and placed himself down gently.

"Thank you," she smiled, "Firstly, welcome aboard."

"Thank you Commander," Kerneal replied with a bright smile.

"Secondly," she shifted a little in her chair, "Your past is of no concern to me, due to many reasons, but just know that this ship is your home now."

"Does that mean that you're extending an offer to me to restore my commission and offer me a position onboard the Enterprise?" Kerenal asked with a slight smile as his eyes brightened.

She smiled in response, "Don't let us regret it. We intend to keep everyone on board safe."

"Ask Tierney, I'm no danger to anyone and my experience gives me a somewhat... unique look on situations," Kerenal replied with a light chuckle as he stood from behind the desk and extended his hand to the young woman, "I look forward to serving on the Enterprise, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, even for someone who's lifetime stretches for nearly a thousand years."

"I hope we can help you in making every year count," the woman rose from her chair and straightened her jacket before shaking his hand firmly, but friendly.

"It's not about making the years count, it's about making sure you leave something behind, something meaningful." Kerenal replied as he took a step back, "Do you mind if I ask what position you're having me fill?"

"Are you not aware?" Adrianna asked confused before looking down to her PaDD.

"Well, given that you found me drifting in space and that I had resigned my commission some time ago, I didn't come on board expecting to be given a position and so far, noone has offered me one," Kerenal replied with a slight smile as he ran a hand through his dirty blonde hair, a twinkle in his eyes as he slid a padd out of the uniform he had replicated, "This is a copy of my service file, as you'll see, I have experience in the vast majority of positions, most notably Operations and Tactical as well as a couple of stints as a Helm officer, put me wherever you think I can serve you best Commander." he added quickly as he handed the padd across the desk.

"Operations," she replied quickly once she found it, "I have to apologised, I thought I had sent the orders." The woman blushed slightly as she fiddled with her PaDD.

"Ah, my first posting," Kerenal replied with a knowing nod as he slid his hands into his pockets and flashed a smile at the young woman's blush, "I'll get up to my new office and begin the paperwork as soon as possible."

"Thank you," she smiled, but clearly a little angry at herself, "Again, I'm sorry I didn't get that to you sooner."

"Don't worry Commander, it's easily done, I'll see you on the bridge." Kerenal replied with a respectful bow of his head.

"I'll see you on the bridge," Adrianna repeated back to confirm.
