Mission: Reconstruction and Refocus

=*=Ready Room=*=

Captain Rozen Coo had just arrived back to his office after touring the Science Department. He had just settled back into his office to go over data streams and status updates with a cup of coffee in hand. There was a chime at the door.

Rozen shifted a padd or two on his desk and called out to the door, "Come."

Hustling through the door, Ayissa flashed a bright smile at the man behind the desk, though she shifted the padd in her possession from one arm to the other in a vaguely nervous fashion. "Ah, excuse me Captain. I was informed that I had just missed you in the department. I got a bit carried away getting everything set up. Normally I like to be early, but just in time was apparently not in time enough. So, I wanted to introduce myself!"

Pausing briefly to catch her breath, the woman's eyes widened slightly in realization of how awfully she had been babbling. Quickly coming to more appropriate attention, she gave a sharp salute. "Ensign Ayissa Kharg, Sir, Science Officer. Freshly assigned."

Rozen stood up as the Ensign bound into his office, "A pleasure to meet you Ensign," he said extending a hand for a handshake. "Have a seat please," he gestured to a chair in front of his desk, taking his seat.

Quickly having to shift her padd back to her non-dominant arm, Ayissa returned the handshake perfunctorily. "Thank you, Captain."

"Freshly assigned? Straight from the academy? Quite the assignment," replied Rozen with a warm smile.

"I, well, freshly assigned to this ship." the scientist hedged slightly, finding and settling herself into the mentioned seat behind her. "I spent a year on Starbase Eighty-four, waiting for an opening to come up aboard a vessel. But the Enterprise! I am beyond amazed to be here, I assure you."

"I am glad to hear it Ensign," replied Rozen. "There is plenty to be done and plenty to be learned upon this ship. Its one thing to be on a Station, I did it for 5 years myself, its another thing to be on a ship. I've always preferred ships myself. We truly have assembled one of the best Science Departments in the fleet. You mentioned having time to take a look around downstairs, what do you think?"

"The base was fine," Ayissa mused, "But I spent my entire life before Academy travelling across the galaxy. Being stuck in one place was beginning to prove a bit more than I could handle. I believe that this station will prove much more appeasing to my personal goals."

"As for my thoughts, I am not sure I can even articulate them appropriately." the Ensign chuckled softly. "I never imagined there would be so much space, or equipment, aboard a ship. But I am certainly delighted that there is."

"The nice thing about this ship, nearly 12% of the interior spaces are reconfigurable," said Rozen shifting in his chair. "If we want to more science labs, we move some other models out and add in a new science lab. Need more crew quarters, we add in a new quarters space. Its a very fluid design, one of fleets finest."

"Being a man of science myself, I am still floored by the advance technologies that exist here."

Shaking her head slightly, the Ensign gave a vague smirk. "My parents would be absolutely green, if they could see it all. I thought Academy would have better prepared my expectations, but I am still impressed at every turn. As it is, I am eager to finish getting settled in and get to work with all these shiny new toys."

"Of course," replied Rozen standing. "I can't blame you, we have a lot ahead of us. Welcome aboard Ensign."

"Thank you again, Captain." Ayissa nodded, rising from her chair. "Is there anything else, Sir?"

"Check in with the Assistant Chief and currently Ensign Maria Lionza is working on a project you may be able to assist with," replied Rozen. "Now off you go, there is science to be done!" he said with a wide smile.

Snapping a smart salute, Ayissa smiled brightly. "Aye-aye, Captain."

Tucking her padd back securely beneath one arm, the Ensign took the opportunity and her leave.

Once the Ensign departed the office, Rozen sat back down and finished his EOD reports.
