Mission: Where no man has gone before.

The Enterprise cruised along at warp 7 moving between two systems that the Chief of Science suggested that they survey. Most of the senior bridge staff were off duty except for Captain Carpenter and Chief Engineer Rhodes.

All of a sudden the ship dropped out of warp, and all stopped. Major power systems, weapons, shields, engines were mysteriously were taken offline. Everyone on the bridge sat in silence awkwardly waiting for someone to mention that fact of what just happened.

Carpenter came out of his ready room and stared at his darkened bridge. "Report!" He barked.

"Looks like our prefix code was activated. Weapons, shields, engines are all offline. We are a sitting duck sir," piped up Mark Rhodes from his terminal frantically trying to figure out why someone would activate their prefix code.

"Captain O'Neil, we have activated their prefix code. The ship is powered down and ready for boarding," called the Ops officer to the weathered commander in the captains chair.

"Understood... Drop our cloak and hail them." said Captain Tanaka O'Neil. He stood up and stood over the Ops officer as he punched in information dropping the cloak and bringing up a confused looking Captain Carpenter on the main view screen. "Ah yes, Captain Eric Carpenter I presume?"

=*=Bridge, USS Enterprise=*=

"You presume correctly." Eric said, narrowing his eyes as he sat in his chair. "Forgive my lack of familiarity, since I have no idea who you are, but would you might telling me why you have disabled my ship?"

Mark wasn't exactly sure who this officer was who just disabled his ship, and stripped him of any defenses but he did not like the fact that he did it. While the captains talked he tried to decrypt the prefix code and maybe break their hold on the Enterprise.

"Well, long story short, Captain, you and your Executive Officer, a one Mr. Thelin th'Zarath, are under arrest from the highest authority of the United Federation of Planets on charges of treason and crimes against the Federation. As your ship is in no condition to defend itself, you will have no choice but to come with me."

O'Neil nodded to his Ops officer on his bridge and a handful of black clad UFP security units beamed onto the bridge of the Enterprise, phase rifles drawn. "Go secure the Executive Officer," said O'Neil on the view screen to his detail and a few men boarded a turbolift for Deck 2 and the Executive Officer's Quarters.

"Under what authority am I being arrested?" Carpenter snapped.

"Under the highest authority, Mr. Carpenter," said O'Neil over the view screen watching as one of his security detail placed restraints on Eric's wrists.

"Your ship will be impounded and flown back to Earth. I will have a detail beamed over to take command of your vessel and run basic ship operations. Your crew will be confined to quarters until trials can be arranged to determine if they have shared in your traitorous acts. As to you and your 'second in command', you will serve the duration of our journey in the brig of the USS Interceptor so we can keep a closer eye on you and you can speak with our Intelligence Officers."

Mark conspicuously worked at his terminal. He was trying to remodulate the ships prefix code and break the control from the Interceptor. It wasn't quick work, but he was getting it sorted out, one security barrier at a time.

"Like hell it will!" Carpenter snapped, shoved the UFP soldier, who was unbalanced, giving Carpenter a chance to move to the locker beside the command chair - producing a phaser. He promptly stunned the two closest soldiers to him. This was the cue for his bridge staff to fire on the invaders.

Mark kept his head down as the fight broke out between the UFP security and the rest of the bridge crew. His fingers danced quickly over his terminal as phaser bolts flew around the room.

O'Neil scoffed to himself as he watched Carpenter try to resist. Shaking his head he said to his Ops Officer, "Beam him directly to the brig. I am sick of playing games."

Mark heard the sound of a site to site transporter as he broke the last encryption of the prefix code that held the USS Enterprise at the mercy of the USS Interceptor. From his terminal he watched as all the systems came back online starting with shields, preventing anymore unauthorized transports.

He took his phaser, that he kept secured under the Engineering I terminal, spun around and stunned the last 2 UFP security details. The bridge crew who had phasers had them set to stun, the UFP was set to kill. In the fight they had lost a tactical officer and a science officer and 8 UFP security lay stunned. Mark stood up and took a leadership role.

"Cut communications," said Mark crossing the bridge. The view screen went from the face of Captain O'Neil, to the exterior of the USS Interceptor. "I know Captain Carpenter was transported. How about th'Zarath?"

The Ops officer checked their terminal. "Commander th'Zarath is still on board, all though there was weapons fire reported in his quarters. Security reports he is being taken to medical, while the 3 men sent to apprehend him are being taken to the Morgue."

=*=Bridge, USS Interceptor=*=

"Captain! Their prefix code has been changed... By the authority of Chief Engineer Mark Rhodes. We have lost control," said the Ops officer looking up at Captain O'Neil.

"Do we have Carpenter?" he asked.

"Yes sir. He is in the Brig. We did not manage to transport the Executive Officer however."

O'Neil scoffed again. "No matter, we got what we came for. As for the ship? Loaded with a bunch of traitors. Tear that ship to pieces. Fire a full spread of photon torpedoes," said Captain O'Neil taking a seat.

=*=Bridge, USS Enterprise=*=

The ship rocked suddenly from the torpedoes. The lights flickered on the bridge and a terminal exploded sending a shower of sparks over Mark's vacant Engineering I terminal. Mark regained his balance realizing they were being fired on.

"Red Alert. All hands to battle stations. Senior Officers to the bridge," said Mark sitting down in the Captains chair.
