Mission: Where no man has gone before.

Tugging at the collar of his jacket slightly, it felt rather awkward on the Andorian, his uniform had been changed from red to gold, he'd been reduced in rank to Lieutenant, all by order of Starfleet Command, it had been a difficult few days but Thelin could understand their worries.

Scarlet was walking back to her quarters after her time at the gym, her skin somewhat glistening and a towel thrown over her shoulder, "Thelin?"

"Ah, Doctor, we meet again..." the Andorian replied with a forced smile as he stood, moved over to her and wrapped his arms around her, giving her a light kiss on the forehead as he did so.

"I almost didn't recognise you in that uniform," she smiled sympathetically through her blushing face, "are you ok?"

"I guess," Thelin replied as he gestured towards one of the seats next to him, "Fancy joining me?"

"Uh," Scarlet looked at her sweaty self, "Umm, why not come back to mine, I'll make you dinner again and get a change of clothes for myself too." She smiled.

"That sounds like a much better plan," the Andorian replied with a genuine smile this time, "Lead the way."

"Come on then," she nodded to the way they were to walk.

When they arrived Scarlet walked to her wardrobe and then to behind a Victorian styled partition to get changed, "So I take it you aren't taking the demotion too well."

"Let me put it this way... I wish the lounge had real alcohol about now," Thelin replied as he manoeuvred himself to a sofa and sat down.

"I almost succeeded in smuggling some on the ship, but I drank it instead," she giggled and walked round in her civilian clothes and sat in an armchair opposite Thelin.

"A shame, I could do with some about now," Thelin replied as he began to relax slightly, "So, what's for dinner Doc?"

"Uh," Scarlet looked up thinking, "What do you fancy?"

"I don't mind, honestly," the Andorian replied with a slight sigh, "I'd been sat in the mess for over an hour trying to decide what I wanted, I guess I'd gotten a little distracted."

"Well," she thought for a moment, "Why not some Andorian food. You do owe me some." She giggled, "A reminder of home may make you feel better."

"Then you'll have to look something up in the replicator," Thelin replied with a slight grin, "I'm not much of a cook and I doubt we have the ingredients on hand."

"I'm not a great cook either, we'd probably have more mishaps here than in the engineering decks," she chuckled and stood up.

"I should hope so, this is supposed to be one of the flagships of the fleet, if there were too many mishaps, they might accuse us of being incompetent," the Andorian responded as he leant back slightly, "We wouldn't want that."

"I didn't mean any offence," she smiled, "I just meant that the place on a ship, a part from a persons' private quarters, where the most mistakes happen, tend to be in the engineering decks. So I was using it as an example, I wasn't trying to dig." Scarlet rambled on but only digging her own grave deeper.

"I'm sorry, I'm just finding the adjustment a little harder than I expected, I didn't mean to be short with you," the Andorian replied as his antennae flattened out, he sat back and sighed slightly, "I've been nothing but loyal to Starfleet but every time something happens, I always seem to be the one on the receiving end of the punishment."

"Tell me about it," she muttered thinking back to her tragic time on the Pendragon, "Stuff happens, but at least you have a great set of friends around right?" She walked to the replicator and got a bottle of wine and two glasses. She handed one to Thelin and poured him a glass.

"This is true, to some extent," Thelin replied with a slight sigh as he took a sip of the wine, "I didn't have much time to form many friendships onboard and one of them has been abducted by the UFP."

"I'm sorry about that," she smiled and filled her own glass sitting next to him, "Sometimes we need to extend our trusts outside of our normal comfort zone. In the coming days and weeks, a lot of people are going to need a friend. A lot of people don't trust you now."

"I've noticed," the Andorian replied as he tugged at his collar and let out a little laugh, "I've been in trouble before, but never been removed from a command position."

Scarlet undid Thelin's top button, "Maybe you should consider a less ill fitting uniform." She giggled, "I don't mind whether you are the XO or an OXO cube, you are still Thelin th'Zarath."

"I was more using this as an example that people do not trust me, I'd be in command if they trusted me," he replied with a slight chuckle.

"What are you going to miss more," she began, "The better living quarters or the job?"

"A bit of both," the Andorian replied with a smile as he pulled the young redhead onto his lap, "But I do have to admit, it's good to be in engineering again."

Scarlet blushed a little, "it's going back to your employment roots I suppose."

"Going back is an understatement," he replied as he brushed her chin with his antennae and gave her a cheeky grin, "Its where I started."

She smiled back, "At least you haven't been thrown into something you don't know though."

"Again, a nugget of truth from the redhead," Thelin responded as he pressed his face into her neck and held her tight.

Scarlet blushed more, "You need to start seeing the positive sides to this situation. You're alive, you haven't been 'captured', you still have a job."

"I can think of another positive that is sat right in my lap too," the Andorian added quickly.

With a giggle the young woman blushed, "Aww, Really? It's just we've been friends for so long, I was falling for you and I just kissed you out of nowhere. Part of me regretted it afterwards because I wasn't sure if you felt the same. If I hadn't have kissed you, what would have become of us?"

"I would probably have kissed you," Thelin replied with a light chuckle as he looked up into her eyes and kissed her softly on the lips.

"That's good to hear," she blushed more after she kissed him back.
